We usually eat at the Serramonte Barracuda Restaurant , I love their Big Plate (enough for two) Seafood salad with seaweed & lots of chopped sashimi for $13.95. We happen to be in Burlingame so we came here. I ordered the Sea Food salad, waitress said they don't have it but they can create me one so I said ok. She came back with a small bowl of spring mix with 4 thin slice of sashimi. I said "oh I wanted a bigger salad like the one in serramonte, she ask me if I wanted to add more sashimi, I said add maybe 4 more slice. This time she came back with a bigger bowl of salad with extra 4 slice of sashimi. Fine, I'll take that, but when we got the bill, they charge me $25 for that all spring mix salad with 8 pieces of thin slice sashimi on top. I talked to the manager/owner & showed him how much Barracuda in serramonte is $13.95 for the same size salad. His response was "well this area is very expensive place". I said all the restaurants around here in Burlingame, you won't find a spring mix salad for $25 even if it had slice steak on top. $25.00 for all spring mix with 8 thin slice of sashimi is just too redicolously expensive, wish I could post here the picture. I checked their menu and their most expensive order is the rib eye steak $21.95 so how can a salad be $25. They have Tuna salad w/spring mix for &10.95 so can they charge me $25. Owner even told me "oh we have salad even more expensive for $30" but I didn't find that in their menu either so that makes him a liar & could not do anything for us. Never coming back to this place again & will surely post this on my Facebook as well so my friends are aware, I will also go to Yelp & let others know. The 1 star btw is for the...
Read moreBeen here several times but because of mixed experiences not quite sure where to rate. Generally the place is reasonably clean but there have been times when that's not the case (sticky tables). The sushi rolls are creative and good; although many seem similar ingredients. Price is quite reasonable for sushi. Service is generally decent, but again inconsistencies have lead to mixed experiences over the past few years.
If you stick to the sushi your experience will likely be 4 stars - if you expand horizons it'll possibly be 2 stars. Specific examples -
Their chocolate lava cake is delicious when dining early, but don't order at later times unless you also want undercooked cake. Creme Brulee - for some wacky reason they brought it to the table warm which meant the carmalized hard crust was melted. It was a terrible disappointment. Vegetarian Udon Soup - asked them to leave off the bonito flakes (bonito being a fish). When it arrived at table with flakes asked for new order. They took it back scraped off the ones they could then returned it. Still quite fishy with the flakes left. Thankfully I'm not allergic just vegetarian. But I don't trust the kitchen with allergens since then so I stick to their vegetarian rolls of which there are a...
Read morePros: Good prices, delicious food, lots of parking nearby, fast service
Cons: not enough outdoor seating :)
Love sushi and miso soup? This is the place. They are conveniently located right by Burlingame Ave so you can stop by real quick and then carry on exploring what Burlingame Ave has to offer. My favorite is the veggie Gyoza (something I haven't seen at other Japanese restaurants yet). Maybe I have to keep exploring and I'll find it. My wife had the chicken katsu bento box and she loved it. The salad has a dressing I've never had before but it was not overpowering or plain. Just simple and tasty. The California roll has a lot of crab meat which I thought most people would like, I prefer a little less but it was still good. Service was excellent both times I visited in the past three weeks so I will...
