A group of coworkers and I ate at Mr. Teriyaki for lunch today. I made a reservation ahead of time since we were a group of 6. When we arrived, it was definitely tricky to figure out where was the exact location. I was able to find it due to the brown signage on the sidewalk, an opening to a parking lot with Mr. Teriyaki tucked on the side of a building.
If you're wary of parking, just know that there is a private lot as well as street parking. Parking is a bit tight, but you'll be able to find a spot.
Once my coworkers and I entered Mr. Teriyaki, we noticed the bright green walls, small dining area and eager servers to get us seated right away. I mentioned that I made a reservation, but it didn't seem like they actually took note of it because they had to scramble to put three tables together. Unprepared, but the food made up for it.
I ordered the Lunch Combo with Salmon Teriyaki and Tempura (it's Meatless Fridays for those practicing Lent). I also ordered a Dragon Roll. One coworker ordered ramen, second ordered a beef teriyaki rice plate, third ordered a lunch combo, fourth ordered the sushi-sashimi combo plate and fifth ordered salmon teriyaki plate with jalapeno bomb.
The teriyaki sauce on the salmon tasted just right. Not too salty, not too sweet. Just the right amount of stickiness. Dragon Roll tasted fresh - reminded me of the Dragon Roll at Masu in San Mateo. Coworker's jalapeno bomb tasted fresh, crunch like a cucumber, and mild heat. Our entire group loved this hole in the wall restaurant and vowed to come back.
Would I recommend this place? Hell yeah. Fresh, delicious, creative sushi. Quick service. Great atmosphere....
Read moreI haven't been to place in so long that I didn't even know they moved. It was a little hard to find, kind of hidden. Thanks to Google Maps, I found it, and there was parking. Inside, it looked small and had a nice simple layout. Not cluttered or anything, it was nice and organized. I had placed my order over the phone and was picking up. The lady who had taken my order was super nice and helpful. I was trying to figure out what the difference was between rice bowl and ordering the entree. She informed me that the only difference was that the rice bowl had more rice. While I was waiting, I liked that to my left, I could watch Itamae skillfully prepare and make the sushi. It made me wish I had ordered more sushi. I'll order more next time.
I ordered:
Gyoza - It was crunchy and fresh, I loved the sauce that went with it as well. It had a little kick.
California roll - fresh and has a sweet taste to it
Beef and veggie bowl - Hefty size, it had a lot of cabbage. I'm not a fan of cabbage, but it's one way to get me to eat veggies.
Beef bowl - The meat was nice and tender. It did come with extra rice. I think next time I'll order extra meat or something. It wasn't enough meat and needed a little more sauce. I ended up giving my husband my beef to kind of balance it out some more.
Overall, it was a great experience. I can't wait to come back soon. The prices were reasonably priced. Great service, and the 2 aunties that helped me with pick up...
Read moreSo we were looking for good cheap Asian lunch around the Hyatt and we found Mr.Teriyaki on Yelp. It had a free salmon roll with check in, Bonus, were going!!! We pull in the parking lot, I check in and it gives me the option to use it now or later, perfect, now of course.. then a timer pops up and says you must use it within a matter of minutes. No worries, we're here, 5 of us by the way! I walk in and the female owner greets us, I show her the Yelp check-in coupon for the free salmon roll and she smiles then says that's only good at dinner. It did say dinner use only in super small print below the large print USE IT NOW option. Ok, my bad but the roll cost $6!!! We're going to spend over $60, is your fine print worth burning a customer whose going to spend $60 bucks and give a Yelp review??? The answer was yes! Then we needed separate checks and I thought the waitress was going to kick us out. So the food was decent the service was decent and the owner makes poor decisions. We almost turned around and walked out but we had limited time to eat so we stayed. We won't be back. Had she treated us right we would've told everyone about this little place. Since she didn't, we told everyone about this place.... Just not the version a business owner wants, they don't care about you...
