On my recent visit, there was an issue checking in and I encountered 3 different members of the front desk staff, each more unhelpful and rude than the last. When checking in, there was no welcome, no hospitable tone, no friendliness or willingness to be helpful. The first incident was due to the booking of the reservation. The booking confirmation was under my name, however, Marriott's system had it under my husband's name. Upon this discovery, I quickly pulled out the confirmation email to prove that the reservation is for me. The front desk staff would not accept that, and when I asked what needs to happen, he didn't have a solution. I asked if he need to speak to my husband on the phone - to which he agreed. What didn't make sense was that he would rather talk to a stranger on the phone to confirm than to believe the proof of confirmation with my name and my driver's license. The staff proceeded to check me in but there was a problem with the credit card terminal. The terminal only had chip or swipe, no tap to pay. We inserted the chip of my card multiple times but to no avail. I asked of we could perhaps try a different terminal, and was transferred to another staff member. ||This second front desk staff tried to process the transaction again. And at this point, I deduced that the chip on my card has been damaged somehow. The card itself was still functional as I had just paid for airport parking and Starbucks via tap to pay. I asked if tap to pay was available, and the staff said no. He then proceeded to ask me if I was sure my card had enough funds to pay. I was taken aback by his question and insinuation. I then asked what other options I had, such as taking down the credit card number and having it processed by their back office - I was told there were no other options other than to use another credit card. I did not have a second credit card with me at the time and was about to be late to pick up my friend from the airport, so I let him know I'd be back so that I could check in then.||I used the very same card to pay for airport parking and it all worked just fine. After picking up my other credit card, I proceeded to check in again where a young lady at the front desk was up to bat. I was chatting with my friend in line until the front desk staff was free, and not 2 seconds passed before she impatiently rolled her eyes and gave me a look, signaling it's my turn and to stop wasting her time. She checked us in, using my other credit card that had a working chip, and asked if we would like our room cleaned daily. We responded yes for our 3 night stay and she acknowledged. Housekeeping did not clean our room at all the entire duration of our stay. We were out of the room by 9am every morning and back at 9pm - no housekeeping for all 3 nights. On the last morning of our stay, housekeeping busted in at 9am when checkout is at 11am.||Other than the horrible treatment from the staff, the room was fairly clean and had a nice view. I would not recommend any of my future guests to stay here if hospitality is what you seek...
Read moreI would give this place a better review if I had felt safe there and if I hadn't been misled into booking a room there. The 1st day that I was there a very strange and aggressive man tried to force his way into the elevator with me and was translating weird text on his phone to me. The lifts are not in view of the front desk and tucked into a quiet hallway. I was terrified he'd push his way in or get another lift and harass me on my floor. Luckily he didn't, but if he had, I realised that the location of the lifts and the long distance of the lifts to my room left me vulnerable.
This guy subsequently started stalking me outside when I went for a run on the outdoor path, which multiple staff had told me was completely safe. I don't believe that this person was a guest at the hotel but it was clear there was not enough security in place to protect guests.
Initially when I called this hotel they confirmed that they had a pool on site because online the information was not entirely clear depending on the site it was looking at. They also provided detailed description of the gym, which was important to me because I am an athlete in training and needed somewhere to access a decent fitness center while I was traveling for work. When I arrived they confirmed that there was no pool and when I visited the gym, the facility was about as big as my room, most of the equipment was broken and the A/C wasn't working.
Given the size of the hotel, the amount of guests and the need for this kind of facility, I was very shocked that it was so small and in such disrepair. I never would have booked here if I had known the state of the facility and lack of pool.
Beyond this I was frustrated because I was not given the room I booked, was gaslit about what I booked until i had email proof of my booking, at which point they finally agreed to switch my room. My room and hallway were freezing, the extra blankets provided were dirty and uselessly thin and the thermostat only gave me an illusion of control. I had been told the airplane noise wasn't bad, which was untrue and I struggled to sleep here. The food was also crazy money - each meal I had there was over $40 , even eggs and toast.
I was there for a week and my room was never serviced in the time I was there. Myself and my colleagues will not be booking here the next time we come...
Read moreThis is one of the most unpleasant hotels I have stayed in. This hotel appealed to me because of the 4-star reviews it boasts and its proximity to the San Francisco Airport. Keep in mind that this is one of the more expensive airport hotels in the area.
First Impression: Upon entering the hotel, there appears to be no concierge/bellman or valet but it was clean. They offer self-parking as the only parking option if you have a vehicle. The exit stations charge $30 for overnight parking unless you present your room key to the scanner. Unfortunately, my key didn't work and I was charged to exit the parking lot. Now, I could have hiked back to the hotel lobby but after the night I had, it wasn't worth the effort.
Eating: A colleague and I ate at the bar style restaurant in the lobby (which seems to be the main focal point of this establishment). The food was nothing to write home about and was your typical overpriced bar food. The drinks were subpar.
Room/Accommodations: As soon as you walked into the room, you had the feeling that this was an overpriced establishment which rents rooms by the hour. Not that the room was dirty, it wasn't, it just felt....used. What's the saying? "Ridden hard and put away wet". There was a single-serve coffee machine (maybe a Keureg?) but no cups. Not a cup one to be found in the room. The "closet" was a single metal rod bolted between two walls. It also seemed to be missing the bare essentials most hotels provide, such as an iron/ironing board, blow dryer, hangers, plastic cups, etc. Now, all of this is very minor and can be overlooked for a one-night stay at a hotel airport but it was the construction of the building that made my stay unbearable. The walls seem to be constructed of 10 point printing paper. I heard everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, the lady in the room adjacent to mine was talking about on the phone (using a normal conversational volume). Her whole side of the conversation. I thought it was over at 1:00 am and that I could finally get some sleep, but the guest on the other side of the room started up her 2 hour conversation (which ended around 3:00 am).
A 4:00 am wake-up call was required to catch my flight.
Now, I will mention that the hotel has kindly hung "Please Be Quiet Past This Point" signs in the hallways. If that doesn't tell...
