I really wanted to like this place. Tried it once and spicy fried chicken gave us an upset stomach but not the regular fried chicken. Placed an order on Saturday online at 11 when it says it opened and the email said ready in 30 mins. We got there and the door was locked and the sign said they open at 1?? So I called, no answer. I tried again in 20 mins to tell them to not make it since we needed the food asap and had already gone somewhere else. The guy who answered gave the phone to a manager/owner maybe. I asked why we could place and pay for an order when they aren’t even open and he said they were. I asked why the door was locked and the sign said 1. See how I might be confused? He said that is for the Uber drivers?! I told him not to make it since we already ordered elsewhere when no one answered the phone. He said I would receive a refund which I am still waiting for. I called just now and the guy who answered said he didn’t know what I was talking about and I asked when the manager would be back, he hung up on me! Not exactly great customer service. If I ever get a refund I will update this review, just beware of the confusing hours, the spicy fried chicken and the counter guy who doesn’t give a damn about the...
Read moreAfter not having a good fried chicken experience in Vermont, my partner who has lived in South Carolina for years was delighted by the food here. We both ordered crispy chicken burgers spicy, and for sides we got fries, chicken nuggets, pumpkin cakes and cheese sticks. The food was finished in about 10 minutes. The chicken was deliciously tender and retained its moisture and flavor, and was not too oily. The spice level was perfect, right in the middle. The fries are crunchy, and the pumpkin cakes were a perfect sweetness and when dipped in the honey mustard the tartness complimented it well. The cheese sticks were also great with honey mustard. The two people working behind the counter were very friendly and polite and I asked about tea behind the counter, they said it’s new, it will be available next week! I was very excited about this as I love tea. Overall the atmosphere was very pleasant with popular music playing quietly and the entire restaurant very clean. The design of the paper menus was concise and easy to understand, as was the wall menu. I think I found a new top five spot to eat in Burlington. This is a must-visit spot for your trip...
Read moreI feel like they should unironically change their brand name to "oil burger" or "grease burger" to be more acccurate. This is 10000% some of the GREASIEST, OILIEST food I have ever eaten in my entire life, and I say this as a Pinay from Philly. Like, this place is Greasy/Oily to the level of "only eat once every 3 months". it's crazy.
HOWEVER, I say this with the CAVEAT that the food is REALLY GOOD. My partner adores their fried chicken. The fries are exceptional, the pumpkin buns are A+. But man, I can't even finish 1/4 of an order of fries without feeling sick to my stomach & breaking out in a light sweat. The grease/oiliness is just simply overpowering.
I know this place is part of a small chain from NYC, so it's not the owners' fault; that's just a failing of the franchise. But if the brand owner ever sees this: My dude, maybe consider replacing the deep fryers in your chain w/ industrial scale air fryers? It's the only thing keeping me from giving this place a better review. I want to score it higher,...
