El Toro — Restaurant in Burlington

Our first time eating here. Stopped around 5 pm on a Saturday. We were seated immediately with no wait, even though the small parking lot was already full. Very friendly service. Salsa was excellent! No big chunks of onion, but lots of fresh cilantro. I would come back just for the salsa! Ordered a pitcher of margaritas, which was absolutely horrible. Tasted like medicine/cough syrup/dirty dishwater. However, that was my own fault for not specifying top shelf tequila. (All Mexican restaurants seem to be the same that way with their cheap margaritas.) Our meal was served quickly. I had the Floutas Verdes which were fantastic! The salsa verde on them was tangy and delicious, and the floutas were very generously filled with chicken. Husband ordered the chimichanga meal, which tasted good. However, the chimichanga itself was tiny, not a huge over-stuffed monstrosity like most restaurants serve. He said it tasted very good though. We will definitely eat here again! Very good food, and atmosphere. No funky smell like some other Mexican restaurants. Oh, and the water we were served before our meal...

Well, get out the Spanish dictionary. Es muy bueno. Que pasa?! It's very good. What's going on?! First, let's talk about its predecessor. We loved the old place. That said, El Toro has taken it to another level. The service was on point; we were sat almost immediately, given menus and drinks on a very busy night. The menu has pictures of some of the best dishes. Its menu has a huge amount of options. There's a good chance that you could come back every night and have something different for months. The food : the chips and salsa are the first sampling. The chips were freshly made as the salsa. We order the Special Dinner and the Pollo Quesadilla. One is a sampling of the entrees, and the other is a shredded chicken and cheese rolled in an 8" tortilla. We share our dishes whenever we we eat. The sheer amount of food in the Special Dinner could feed 2-3 people on its own. The margaritas are another reason to come. The atmosphere is nice. It has a lot character and well done. There was 3 of us came in on Saturday March 23rd 715 pm the waiter finally came and took are drink order 10 minutes later when he brought are drinks he said il be back. When he took our order I of them ordered 2 chicken tacos with no lettuce, 1 order chicken fajitas with no sour cream , no guacamole, 1 ordered 2 beef tacos with rice. we asked the waiter for napkins while eating salsa and chips it took awhile to get them. When order came it was not right tacos were beef she ordered chicken, I had sour cream on lettuce waiter did not come back at all .finally we got his attention so we could get order to go finally brought bills and we went up to pay we told the cashier we had bad service she said she could not do anything as the owner was out of town we told her it was very bad service he didn't came back to our table at all.
