I remember when Hong's was a cart on Church Street. I had not been to the store front until recently. I am happy to report that the quality is still the same-awesome!!! We arrived just before noon on a Friday, and our order was taken fairly quickly. By the time our party of 4 finished ordering, the line was out the door and onto the sidewalk. Madame Hong took 10 or so orders and then went to work putting them together. We waited about 20 minutes for the food but it was worth the wait! I had the 4 dumpling option and was able to choose different fillings. The dumplings were huge, hot, and delicious. I also got a side of the chili dipping sauce. It was fantastic but if you are not a fan of spice, be careful. It has quite the kick. There's an option to pre order, on line, so if you are in a hurry or have limited time, this is probably the best option. There's limited in restaurant seating so plan on take out. Two of my companions ordered a combo, split it and had left overs. I was not able to finish all of my dumplings.
I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going back to try...
Read moreCame by ten minutes after closing, she was locking up. We asked if there was any way we could buy some dumplings. She graciously let us in, we forgot to lock the door and another guy walked in behind us, she served him too. We ordered 16 dumplings and watched her hand make them to order. We talked to her while she made our food. She is very charming and cute. There is limited stool seating but that was fine for us. She has multiple sauces for the dumplings. The dumplings are large and chewy. We all preferred the pork but the creamcheese crab was also well liked. The food was excellent but the 5 stars are for her. She is one of those special people, works hard, shares her love. The dumplings and restaurant aren't about the asthetics, dig a little deeper and you will find what you are...
Read moreThis is really fantastic American Chinese Food. What to expect from the genre: Sweet Plenty of oil Industrially processed veggies (baby carrots, frozen corn/pea/carrot mix) Etc. Enjoy it! Eat kale on Monday. The scallion pancake, although small, was the perfect balance of chewy and crunchy. Beats any I've had in the dumpling shops in San Francisco. The cream cheese and crab dumplings blew our minds. I loved the thick, homemade wrapper with the silken interior. The pork were equally satisfying. We ordered the combos, with the peanut noodles and fried rice both being enormous portions. They were both tasty, but the noodles could use some more mix-ins and the rice some more seasoning. This was quickly fixed by the killer cranberry and chili sauces, liberally applied...
