I am originally from Burlington, so when I come to visit, I like to eat at the local places. I have eaten here several times with my family and I enjoy the food most of the time.
The service has always been bad. They only take cash, they only serve soda in bottles or cans, the initial chips and salsa servings are very small. It takes a long time for them to not only cook your order, but it also takes a long time for them to return to your table for refills of salsa or drinks.
I went there tonight with my son. We got there at 5:35pm to eat and were meeting others for a movie at 6:50pm. We picked a booth and since we didn't need a menu, we order as soon as they came at 5:40pm. We each got a drink as well as chips and salsa. We sat there till 6:27pm and not one server ever came back to check on us. No communication whatsoever.
I walked to the pay station to tell the waitress that we had to leave to make our appointment and that I would pay for the drinks and if the food was close to being done, I would take it to go. I was a little annoyed, but remained calm and told her we had to go.
The waitress got the female owner, and as I tried to explain to her our situation and why we had to go, she just exploded and told me to "get out right now and don't you ever come back!'
I get people have a bad day, but this was ridiculous. I tried to calmly explain that I would pay for whatever, but I had to go. She refused to hear it and told me to get out immediately. She was so irrational that I didn't want to leave w/o paying anything, so I left $10 on our table for the 2 sodas and left. I will...
Read moreGroseros (Rude). Good food but terrible service. It was a busy Friday night, but not packed yet when we ordered our food. We waited for 40 minutes and tried several times to flag down a server to check on our order. In this 40 minutes not a single staff member came to fill water or visit table at all. Finally I got up and followed a server through the dinning room and she went to check on our order, letting us know that we had ordered fish taco which take 20 minutes. Unfortunately no one had given us information on cook times or long waits when we ordered. The owner brought our food and we began to put the long wait behind us. The owner then came back to the table asking us, "are you ok?" We told her we were and she began to challenge us in hostile tone of voice saying, "Are you sure?" and "We are very busy." but never once "I'm sorry" or "Is there anything I can get for you." For the rest of the meal the serving staff refused to come to our table openly criticizing us to each other and to regulars at the table beside us. The fact that the food was tasty was ruined by the hostile treatment. As a former server myself of 10 years, I never raised my voice or was rude to the owner or staff, yet was treated as if they did not want my business. We left a 20% tip and will never spend another dollar at this...
Read moreWe were in town for a soccer tournament and this place was recommended to us by a fellow soccer family. It is cash or check ONLY with no ATM on site, so come prepared. The place is family owned and by the sound of it, the wife waits on tables and rings them up while the husband is cooking. Service was great, she was there by herself and there were 7 tables plus call in orders. She saw our player in costume/uniform and let us know that certain items were a 20-30 minute wait, she didn't want him to be late for his next match. I thought this was very considerate of her and assured her we were done with games for the day. Horchata was perfect! Not too sweet, perfect blend of rice, sugar and cinnamon. Azteca beans were delicious! Our food did take a while but we were expecting that and had been given warning ahead of time. I ordered a dish with steak, rice and beans. My spouse ordered shrimp and our child ordered a burrito. We all left with full bellies and plans to return during our...
