Update: I received a reach out from a manager who promptly clarified the GF policy and offered me a free meal. GF guests do pay $3.00 more for the buffet which includes one GF pizza but includes access to the salad bar, hot items, desserts, and drinks.
Original review:
We really love this place, usually. I rated this experience a 2 because purchasing a gluten free pizza has always come with the buffet at other locations. This time around, we were told that I had to pay an upcharge for the GF crust plus an extra $1.50 for EACH topping (making my single pizza ring in at over $21 with no drink and no salad bar). I was also asked if I wanted to purchase a salad bar. I didn't even ask how much extra that was because I was so irritated that I just went with the pizza. Had I paid for the salad bar and a drink, my meal would have cost over $30.
Meanwhile, my husband who paid for the $15.99 buffet could request and eat as many pizzas as he wanted with unlimited toppings and unlimited trips to the buffet. I also had to sit there and watch him eat while I waited 20 minutes for my pizza. I'd love an explanation from someone in management about how this policy for GF guests came to be because to me, it feels a lot like discrimination for needing a dietary accommodation. (Most of us who eat GF don't do it because we want to....) On the positive side, the GF crust used is DELICIOUS. Probably one of my favorites, taste and...
Read moreWe have been here a couple times and the food has been good each time. The service was questionable the first time as the cashier had no idea what discounts they had available until I showed him the website. The second time, the cashier was great. Very helpful. The line seems long but it moves along. There is an issue I noticed both times we were there - not a Pizza Ranch problem, a people problem. People will walk in and see someone they know and walk up to their location in line. I thought they were just catching up with people they dropped off but then they paid separately and went to a party room with a group but not specifically together. I have also seen people try and wave people up and they waited in their spot. Thank you for that. I understand parties being together because one person is paying. Sliding up in line because you recognize someone, please have more manners than that. We can all enjoy the great food and non stop selections! Just a note - order a choice pizza right away when you arrive and it will be up quickly to enjoy. Love that option! Sorry I didn't provide buffet pictures, it is always full of people but it moves quickly. Didn't want to get a bunch of people in the picture that might not have wanted to be in it. Also, the staff is great at clearing dishes as they walk...

Grassroots Management should be ashamed of how they treat their people, specifically Alan Pottebaum and District Manager Gwen Hilsabeck.
I recently accepted a role as a General Manager at Pizza Ranch, training at the Burlington location during my first week. I was excited to bring 15+ years of leadership and hospitality experience to a new team, ready to help grow and lead with purpose.
Unfortunately, what I experienced was a toxic environment, demeaning treatment, disrespectful communication, and a culture that didn’t reflect the values Pizza Ranch claims to uphold.
I addressed my concerns professionally, not only for myself but to advocate for others. Rather than being supported, I was terminated within two weeks, proving the exact point I was trying to raise. I'm disappointed, but not discouraged.
What I know for certain: ✔️ I lead with integrity ✔️ I hold teams accountable with respect ✔️ I speak up when something’s not right
Things happen for a reason and I’m grateful to no longer be part of such a toxic and reactive organization. Grassroots Management should take a serious look at the environments they allow and the reputations they’re building by treating people as disposable.
I’m better off without...
