Smitty's Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Burlington

Pure heaven! A sublime experience!!

Loved everything about this place! It was very thoughtfully and tastefully decorated, with a bit of whimsy. Loved the flamingo mascot with its too-too, mask, and little hat out front and the cool mini 'garage door' windows that opened up to the sidewalk sitting area. Very cool!! The place was sparkling clean - inside and out. The two girls there were very fast and friendly. I got the hot fudge sundae with 'wet' walnuts, and it was 'to die for! The quality exceeded all expectations: not only was it tasty, but very fresh as well, and the quality dish and thicker plastic spoon were nice and in fitting with the supreme quality of the whole experience. First time for me visiting here since moving back 'home' from Raleigh, but I definitely will be back! This place was divinely awesome! Even love the names of some of the items which made thoughtful reference to local landmarks: the 'Paramount' Theater, the old train 'depot' building, the historic (City Park) Denzel 'carousel,' and the venerable 'May Memorial' public library, right around the corner. Very nice they had some healthy choices as well, i.e. the 'smoothies.' Think I'll give those a try the next...

I was really disappointed in this place. First, we tried going to the ice cream shop in Graham which was closed due to some sort of issue. A sign on the door directed us to a second location in Burlington. There was a little driving and navigation to do but we decided it would be worth the effortr so we drove to that store! Finding a parking spot was a challenge but we eventually found a spot. Once inside we discovered limited ice cream choices and the girl behind the counter treated us as if we were bothering her! We explained to her that we had driven all the way over there because their other store was closed. She never made a single comment! We ate outside but it didn't appear that anyone had paid any attention to cleanliness ...inside or out. I hate giving negative reviews but unfortunately this one is deserved! I won't be going back...to...

New owner.......Be aware. It is not what is use to be While we have enjoyed Smitty's for years, Sometimes at least once a week....That is over! . I took my grandchildren out for ice cream the other night. I' d planned to use my coupon for buy one and get one free kids ice creams. Found out the NEW owner will NOT accept ANY coupons, or any GIFT CARDS or any discounts that we have either purchased or been given as gifts any longer. IT maybe cost me $5 but it will cost him our business! I heard of a person who had a $100 gift card and that was not accepted either. WRONG on many levels. HE should honor these for this year at least. Going out for ice cream is for fun. Not something that is a must. We will still enjoy ice cream....just not...
