Perfection is a lot of little things done well. Beyond “the food and service was excellent, with the food prepared flawlessly, and the flavors genuine,” I feel like there was something more here that’s easy to miss. Sorry if this review is a bit precious.
Every detail, no matter how small, was attended with the care, precision, and generosity which makes complicated things look simple, clean, and easy.
The service, the quality of ingredients, the design and execution of the menu, the flavor, the balance of salt and acidity, the lightness — it all had the authentic, honest, and understated air of a single well placed step. It felt almost too easy.
Their sweet and sour sauce is my new favorite of the genre, though it’s not my usual, and it was delicious in a beautiful and delicate way. Next time I would ask for another condiment to cut through it and push it forward — something pickled or zesty perhaps to go with the fresh slaw, though that may make it a different sandwich. I probably could have asked for their other sauces to try on the side as well, which I expect would have been wonderful to dip fries in.
If it was 200 miles south, I would happily have waited in line for over an hour on a Friday night. The fact I was able to just walk in and order was a steal. Excellent place for any meal where chicken...
Read moreThis is, without a doubt, the best fried chicken in town. I had some reservations about going because I really didn't know what it would be like. We used to love this place as Sunny Terriyaki and weren't sure how well it would translate. Everything we tried was an absolute hit in our house. We ordered it to go and when we got home all if the chicken was still crispy even with the sauce on it. My toddler LOVED the Galbi chicken, which was just a sweet glaze and my husband really likes the Sweet and Spicy, which was a slightly spicy sweet and sour sauce. We also tried the Original and the Soy Garlic. Nothing missed the mark, it was all fantastic. We chose the pickled radish on the side, next time I'll probably choose the cabbage- the pickled radish was rather strong and just not my style. Tteokboki is a rice cake in a spicy sauce that has a texture I LOVE, but that can be off putting for some. If you like spicy food, it's worth trying at least once.
Service was fast and efficient. They has some really interesting ice creams in a case that I would love to try but it will have to wait...
Read moreSwan’s Korean Fried Chicken is hands down one of the best spots I’ve tried for Korean-style chicken — and I’ve had plenty! The chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. Whether you go for the classic soy garlic or the spicy gochujang glaze, each bite is packed with flavor and cooked to perfection.
The sauces are incredible — rich, bold, and just the right level of sweet and spicy. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and the recipes are made with care. The sides are also worth a shout-out — crispy fries, pickled radish, and kimchi that balances the meal beautifully.
On top of the amazing food, the service is friendly and fast. The staff truly make you feel welcome, and the atmosphere is cozy without being cramped. It's the kind of place you keep coming back to — whether for a quick takeout or a fun night out with friends.
Highly, highly recommend Swan’s if you’re craving real-deal Korean fried chicken. Five stars...
