Food was amazing I would have given it five stars if it wasn't for the waitress. I received my bill. It was $60. I gave her $80 of cash so I could leave her a tip. She asked if I needed change about five minutes later and I told her yes. Because I was not going to give her a $20 tip on a $60 bill that's almost 50%. So she comes back with a dollar and I said "I gave you an extra 20" so she gives me $20 when she opens her black book up. I looked at her like really? You're going to do that? You're going to sit there and try to con me? And I looked at her and I was like I gave you $80 my Bill was 60 why would I tip you $20 when that's almost 50% tip that's insane. She just looked at me walked away. And I was upset because she never filled my drinks I was only there for 20 minutes and most of the food we got we took home and finish so why would I tip her for that ?I was going to tip her $12 just because the food was so amazing and that would be basically $6 for the food and fit dollars for her but of course she would get all of it. but I ended up tipping her only five because I was so upset and she better be glad she got that. So basically what I'm saying is upgrade your waitstaff and maybe you can get a five-star and be a perfect restaurant but until then you don't need to be hiring con artist wlho are stealing tips off of debit card, I'm sure of and cash!! that's ridiculous. Be careful please and be sure to check your credit card records and see how much you were charged and if it is more take it up there and show them because I'm sure I am not the first person she has done this to.
Tonight was my last night in Burlington where I visited some family members. We spent the day hiking Pilot Mountain and decided to go out for a nice dinner. We chose Valerio’s Italian Restaurant based on their menu selection posted online. They offered several choices of appetizers and a great selection of salads, baked pastas, Alfredos, Seafood, subs, and pizzas. We arrived at 8:30, an hour before closing time. You never know how fresh a restaurant’s food will be and how friendly/attentive the servers are when it’s that close to closing time! We found parking right out front, slipped on our masks (required by restaurant to enter and leave) , and walked right in to the host/hostess stand. No wait! Our server was Hannah, and she was excellent! Friendly, attentive, returned to refill our drinks at just the right time, offered us a wine list, recommended the calamari, as well as the lasagna. The calamari was served hot and crispy with a generous cup of delicious marinara sauce full of ripe chunky tomatoes. The lasagna was piping hot with several layers of savory meat sauce and melted cheese. The portion was actually large enough to share because we ended up bringing 1/2 of it home with us. My daughter ordered the Mediterranean shrimp and pasta with diced tomatoes and garlic. The shrimp was cooked perfectly as was the angel hair pasta. Both dinners came with a choice of salad or soup and delicious, hot breadsticks. The total tab for appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 salads, 6 breadsticks, a glass of tea, 2glasses of wine, and a 20% tip was $65.00. We considered that a steal for a wonderful meal, leftovers for lunch, wine, and excellent service from Hannah! Next time you are in Burlington, NC or Elon, NC be sure to eat lunch or dinner at Valerio’s Italian Restaurant! To the manager: Hannah is an awesome member of...
Read moreOverall I would have given 3.5-4 stars based on my past experiences there.. I haven't really tasted anything I didn't like. I tried a grilled chicken salad today, which was OK, despite a gnat being in it. Under no circumstances would I think having a gnat in food is acceptable. The manager made it sound so nonchalant "it's just a gnat, they're everywhere". I work 30 secs from Valerio's, so it's convenient, good and affordable. I normally eat there at least 3 times a week. I was very disappointed when I asked for a refund but couldn't receive one because "they don't do refunds on food". Well it's a restaurant, so what else would they refund me for? She also stated that she didn't know ANY restaraunts that refund for food. I guess she's never heard of Chick-fil-A. I actually think Valrio's is the 1st and only place I've heard of, that doesn't issue refunds for food, but who am I? Anyway, after me negotiating, they finally agreed to issue me a credit or to fix another grilled salad. My verbal thoughts were this "Why not just give me my $8 back instead of wasting all of our time and money fixing another one? It costs the same" I wouldn't have cared if it were $5. I paid for something I didn't eat and didn't care to eat after seeing the bug. Also if you do happen to go, and there does happen to be a sign about refunding food, it's probably because I suggested the customers are aware of that before eating. I absolutely wouldn't order another grilled salad from there again I would just go to Danny's Cafe (around the corner) if I want a good grilled chicken salad. I ended up doing just that. I went to Danny's and spent $8 on another grilled chicken salad, which was delicious...
