You got to realize that nobody reads this in corporate or the owners only other patrons that go to the outback Steakhouse in Butler New Jersey. When I called them I spoke with a Janine who is a pleasure my server was Bella her father actually worked at the Suffern outback years ago and I frequent did that many times I also was pleased to meet Abigail who assisted bella. However this evening when I called to report the extraordinarily salty and inevitable bloomin Onion I was assisted by Rhonda when I mentioned that I had spoken with Janine the other night she immediately corrected me that it couldn't possibly have been Janine because Janine didn't work last night and when I asked her that it really make a difference she just remained silent Rhonda May in fact be one of the few people that are more interested in being correct and right for herself rather than supporting the needs of a customer or the outback Steakhouse I've seen this many times I found her personality to be somewhat combative I think if I met her in person I might understand why I also mentioned and described the incredible saltiness of the bloomin Onionshe mentioned that they haven't changed the recipe in ages and she's been there over 9 years I don't know if that exactly constitutes an age but I guess it's enough for Rhonda to again assert her independence and strong mindedness which I wholeheartedly support. I told her that I had been a long time supporter of the outback Steakhouse myself my three daughters my son-in-law and other family members have frequented the outback Steakhouse in Suffern but it no longer exists is now physical therapy or office I said to her you know the customer isn't always right but he's never wrong I figured that by that point it was really no reason to continue the conversation with such a strong willed and headstrong person such as Rhonda I told her that my background was in science and that the only change she described was moving from a flower vase to something that had a soda base and I described to her that the soda in the baking soda was comprised of sodium bicarbonate atom I believe and that that's part of salt like sodium chloridethat might be the reason why I perceive the saltiness I know that's a shortcoming of my palate and has nothing to do with her or strong-willed and independent opinions of the outback I will in the future avoid the time that Rhonda is a greeter on the northbound Lane of route 23 even though I'm probably going to be moving to the area in the near future within a month or so there are plenty of other restaurants in the area that I choose to patronize with my hard-earned dollars that I'm enjoying in my retirement so if you're looking for a great service like Bella and Abigail and Janine you can find them at the outback Steakhouse in Butler and if you want to have a salty and argumentative time make sure...
Read moreWe came in late afternoon on Friday before Christmas around 2:30. It was empty, probably about 6 tables full, at best. Service was sssslllllooooowwww! All we ordered were drinks, 2 salads and a 3 point bloomin onion. Salads took forever, they came out warm and skimpy and long after the salads were gone, finally the appetizer. Cold like the salad should have been. The sirloin cubes were like ice cubes, the cheese was cold and congieled and the dipping sauce had a scum on top, you know that film it gets when it sits and gets cool? We were starving at that point so road-kill would have been ok which was pretty much what we got. Finally after sitting for a while with a pile of empty dishes, the waitress brought the bill. It was $61.15 which was what we expected. I gave a brand new $50 visa gift card that I just opened from the packaging plus an additional $20 in cash to cover the overage and tip. The waitress comes back to the table and tells me there was only $41.67 on the card so she used the extra $20 towards the bill. So I gave her another $10 in cash for tip. I asked where was the visa gift card bcuz it wasn't returned to me. 5 minutes later, she returns the card to me. I contacted visa who advised me that when the visa gift card is used at a hotel or restaurant, they automatically withhold the tip and depending on how the establishment is set up with visa, the tip either goes thru of gets credited back to the card. So the waitress kept my card, got a $10 cash tip and had I not requested my visa gift card back, would have gotten an additional $8.33 by keeping my visa gift card.
So today, Tuesday, I spoke to manager "Matt", was polite, but defensive because he "hired her" and "never had any incidents with her" but in my opinion, it only takes one incident. I'm sure there are little things the servers share on how to get over and make more tips. This is one of them. The "manager" "matt" who claims he was "taking notes" offered no concession (not that I would ever go back there) other than making poor excuses for the waitress's inexcusable behavior. This is the next played-out restaurant that will go out of business for these easily corrected behaviors. I guess looking for new jobs is easier than keeping customers. Good luck! I would never go back to this...
Read moreWhere do I begin. So my friend and I decided we wanted steak and lobster last night. We decided to head to this location as it’s close by to where we live there was more snow fall expected and we wanted to eat and get home. We arrive around 7:20 wait for the table. As soon as I sat down I knew something was wrong. I politely ask the waiter (David) could we sit some place warmer since it was freezing. The gentleman advice me there was no where to sit everything is occupied. So we bite the bullet and sit there. We looked around and the dining patrons ALL HAVE THEIR JACKETS ON. I was in my light sweater. Our waiter takes our drink order and comes back 20 mins later (could tell the restaurant was short staffed) the table next to us finally had enough the gentleman wanted to speak to the management because he had waited almost 2 hours for his order and they still managed to mess up his order. He mentioned the temperature and the wait time as I would have been upset he had every right to complaint. Management had various excuses as to what had happened I will list them (she must have forgot that we were next to the table because when she gave me attitude ) My other colleague left the door open all night The heat is on and adjusted accordingly The company we called said they would come but are not coming 4.what do you want us to do about the situation? This type of miscommunication is why you have to have a solid team. CUSTOMERS HAVE A RIGHT TO VOICE THEIR DISPLEASURE especially when we’re given misinformation. The manager had a horrible attitude about the situation even when addressing our table. Not only should she have communicated with her staff she should have informed each table that the restaurant had a little issue with the heating system (it was the same temperature outside as it was inside which is FREEZING ) she failed to inform us as did the hostess and waiter. We waited and waited for our order the blooming onion was cold after 5 minutes our order was 45 mins and nothing. We got so fed up we left and did not bother to stay. I am disappointed with the whole dining experience and won’t be returning to that location due to how the situation was dealt with. I would have enjoyed my meal but I didn’t bother to wait anymore...
