Never again. We like to support local businesses & decided to try Monte's on the Reservoir. The wait time wasn't bad. We were seated in a dark dirty booth. We both ordered steaks. It finally arrived & we knew had chosen poorly. The thin Bourbon Street steak was floating in some kind of sauce. Baked potato was half cooked & still not approaching good. My wife had the filet. Oh no. This had to be the worst filet I have ever seen. Full of fat & gristle, also covered in some unknown sauce. We could hardly cut it with the butter knife we were provided. We know steak. This was bad. She asked the waitress if this was even filet & she aggressively explained that it was. My wife did not eat a bite. It was that bad. We asked that it be removed from our bill. At this point the waitress goes into kitchen and screams at the chef. The whole place heard this. Extremely unprofessional. She then insisted we get a replacement steak. We insisted she not charge us for the inedible steak. I had eaten half of mine so I did pay for it. At $50 a person, I wish we had gone to Tico's.

Wish I didn't have to give a star. First let's talk about lightning, dark outside and inside. Place was empty except one other couple . Table setting white paper on top of actual table cloth . Photo of it showing they might aswell take them off. Gross! Food was disappointing. High priced fried food. Fried chicken breast ( actually chicken tenders) think goodness I'm not allergic to seafood , I'm pretty sure the fish , chicken , shrimp and crawfish is all fried together. Menu is small ( meaning not many choices). All and all save your money and go to a real steak house . Good thing we decided place looked dated to try the steak at those prices. Glad we did. Just wish we kept driving and picked somewhere else!

I wish I could give 0 stars. We came in at 740. Only black couple in.the building. Its 8pm and we haven't been acknowledged as far as what would we have to drink nor do we have a menu. Waitress and hostess COMPLETELY ignoring us. My initial thought was "maybe theyre short staffed and busy" even if thats the case...under no circumstances should you let people come to your establishment and not be acknowledged in ANY MANNER for 20+ mins. We were also told by the hostess to "sit wherever" ...still no menus. I encourage yall not to even waste time coming to Monte's in Byram. Damn the whole building to hell

Enjoyable. My first time to dine here. Got there about 9 o'clock. I kinda spooked when I saw an almost empty parking lot. Website said that closing not until 10:30. As I entered Was greeted and seated by Karen. I was the only one seated in this dining area, really spooked then. Karen made suggestions, but I chose the ribeye from menu list. I chose "Come Back" dressing for my salad. I always choose Come Back when offered. Until this, Come back has always tasted very similar. Monte's was similar in texture yet flavor totally different. Probably the best I had ever tasted. My meal was served quickly. Karen had checked my needs regularly as wait staff should. The steak was cooked perfectly to my wishes. It had less than a bite or 2 of fat. The baked potato was one of those that you get, and then ask urself, "how does one bake a potato that Is soft and almost creamy". And it was hot. Oh, the meal was served on one of those cast iron plates and it was hot. The mixed vegies were in a smooth cream like sauce. The flavor and texture of the broccoli, green beans and carrot slivers were crisp and again, different. The steak was served, topped with another different flavored sauce than I had ever tasted. To end, I much enjoyed my meal and the attention shown me. The only change that I would suggest would be that the bread have been buttered with a tinge of garlic, for it was the only thing that was common to any other restaurant. As for price, it did cost me 40 plus tip, I did have a drink from the bar though. Not many weeks ago I had paid more for much less at an esteemed restaurant in the metro area. I will make it a point to dine here again, cause if I am impressed like this again, both meals will be the best steak dinners I have ever...

Saturday date night was at Monte's Steak and Seafood. This place was only 10 minutes on the 55 from Baptist! Much closer than I thought. The place was quiet, dimmed lights, the perfect setting for a romantic date night. We were quickly greeted and seated.

They started us off with some bread, but from the pictures I've seen online, I can tell, the food is saucey, so I saved the bread for a different purpose 😊 I got the side salad with raspberry vinaigrette, oh was it great. Just the right balance of sweet and tart, and those bits of deep fried croutons were a treat!

He ordered the voodoo steak topped with fried shrimp, and oysters, cooked medium rare. We usually don't prefer an overly sauced steak, but it was great because we were able to use our bread to soak it all up. The steak, that steak was cooked perfectly, extremely tender! I wished I got my own piece! The fried seafood on top was delicious, the batter were very well seasoned, now we really want to try his fried seafood platter.

My redfish was blackened then topped with a cajun cream sauce, again, it was great with the bread. I was afraid the pasta and the sauce on the fish might conflict in flavors, but not at all, the pasta went very well with it. Overall we enjoyed our dinner, we will definitely be back to try some of his fried dishes. I heard they have Sunday buffet, so I'll be back for that too! I included a...

absolutely the best restaurant I've ever been too. Despite everything that's happening with covid my husband and I wanted to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary and were looking for something to eat. since we moved here from florida we haven't had much chance to try the local food but I am so glad we did tonight. the food was beyond good. our service was impeccable. the staff were taking precautions ( masks, fresh table coverings, not seated close to other people) our server Karen was so so nice too. we ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer, we got fresh warm bread, salads ( mine had homemade ranch which was the best ranch I've ever had ) I ordered the shrimp fettuccine with parmesan sauce and a side of home made sweet potato fries. my husband got the New York strip with breaded shrimp and mushrooms added and veggies in sauce with side of homemade fries. not only was his steak cooked perfect but I dont think I've ever seen my husband eat a steak so fast before. we also got the bread pudding which we brought home and tried. soooo good.and not only did the food taste good but was presented beautifully. our server karen was very attentive and kind and the owner mr Monte came out and thanked us for dining with them and was so nice. I highly reccomend this restaurant. we will absolutely be returning I the future. pretty sure this will be our new date...
