Denny's — Restaurant in Byron

We were on a trip home after visiting family in FL. Saw this Dennys & decided to stop at approximately 4:45pm. Upon arrival, it looked fairly new & clean except the ladies room (not sure if it actually was a new location or not). There were maybe 2 other tables of diners, not busy at all. Our waitress, Crystal C, seated us. When she did, she told us they were completely out of ALL steaks (making sure we understood we could NOT order steak of any kind!) There went a good portion of the menu including the $9.99 steak special. My hubby wound up ordering the “Grandslamwich” with the hash browns “covered & smothered”. He also had iced tea. Focusing on his meal & drink as it’s not what he wanted but settled for after being told, “NO steaks”. Our food was brought to the table & his hash browns had a slice of cheese on it but not even melted! He chose to just mix it up & eat it that way. We both were trying to find our waitress as he needed more tea but couldn’t locate her. Hubby decided to go toward the back area to find anyone to help get him tea. Our waitress finally got him more tea but while waiting an unreasonable amount of time he had to finish his meal cold!

While eating, another table was seated diagonally across from us & we could hear them all ordering steak!!! They had a different waitress than we did & we thought maybe we heard wrong but when their waitress brought their food most, if not all, had steak!!!??!!?? We were done by that time & were tired of waiting for the check so we left a tip on the table & walked to the front by the register. As we walked we passed our waitress going the opposite direction but said she’d meet us at the register.

My husband questioned her about the table that got steaks when she clearly let us know there was NONE! She stated that the day shift told her they were out of steak & apparently she never bothered to confirm this!! She did, however, tell my husband she made sure to “get on someone about it”.

Needless to say, it wasn’t the best experience & the service wasn’t great especially considering there weren’t many diners!! Since we were just passing through, heading to another state, we most likely won’t go back there but it was very frustrating to say the least!!! I only took a few pics but you can clearly see it wasn’t busy at all so service should’ve been better than it was!!

Edit: I sent this review to the email Dennys asked me to, included my phone number, no reply as of June 23rd!! Why ask me to do this then no one gets...

I’m so disappointed. I grew up coming here and yes it’s a dennys so i never had like crazy high expectations of course . but i do have expectations in general for a restaurant. i was with my family a few days ago eating here and my waitress not only confused me while i was trying to order multiple times, proceeded to tell me it’s okay to swap something on what i ordered to something else (something smaller and cheaper at that), didn’t disclose that when i got the bill , i would be up charged for it. and when ordering , i pointed on a special menu with just two meals, both having the pumpkin pancake pictures giant next to it , when she brought my food she brought regular ones and when i went to tell her i had gotten the pumpkin ones she said “well usually you have to specify” in a very condescending voice, but i did specify, and my whole family watched me specify when i ordered. She proceeded to get ruder and ruder and i told her she could just put them in a togo box. it had already taken forever to get the food and i knew this would be the case with the remake of pancakes. it took an extra 30 minutes entirely to get them. AND SHE DECIDED TO STILL UPCHARGE ME FOR THEM. after forgetting to get the right ones, having them ready 30 mins after asking, and already upcharging me for swapping ham to one piece of bacon without disclosing that at all. I was so annoyed with this waitress and i left NO tip , which i never have done before. i hope i never get her again , if i do ill be asking for...

L Service and L employees. We didn’t even got our table, we’ve waited for around 20 minutes and no one even came to us like we were invisible or something and as soon as we left, the other customers that went inside after us immediately got there table in literally seconds. People were staring at us for absolutely no reason like we were some kind of aliens or something. We literally ate at a different restaurant because of very poor service. It felt like they were being racists to us for not giving our table and immediately giving table to that white family that went in after we left. I don’t know if I’m right but it was very unacceptable. I don’t know if those employees still work there, it’s been years since that happened so sorry about this very late review, I’m just bored. I just want to give a warning to those non white folks that are travelling to Florida or somewhere and wants to eat there so they won’t experience the same thing that happened to us. Maybe I’m might be wrong and a lot has changed over the years but It was a very unacceptable experience. So yea that’s my review, I hope y’all lowkey have a very good day and the folks that are reading this review and oh yea, please go watch Transformers One, I’m not asking a lot here, it’s a very good movie and it deserves to be...
