Stopped here just because I needed coffee for the trip home and the current ratings led me to believe this would be a good stop. Thanks Josh for insisting we get coffee!
The 4.8 ratings to this place do not do it justice. This place is a true 10 out of 5 where I usually do not believe in giving that as an absolute.
First of all the staff, while the appearance of being younger as in their late teens to early twenties, are extremely knowledgeable in coffee, tea, and pastry items. On top of the staff being knowledgeable, the etiquette presented shows as people with multiple years in the coffee and service industry and not those with the age group that physically presented itself today... Remember not to judge a book by its cover. Shout out to Riley, Madison, and Mason for being rock stars!
Now that we have covered the service, let's cover the products presented and purchased.
They have quite an extensive menu with many items that have been altered to provide different variance on your standard offerings.
I ordered a London Fog as my first drink today. As with most smaller coffee shops they do not use loose leaf tea, however the tea that was used is of a higher quality of bagged tea. The steamed milk was done at a perfect temperature. The sweetness of the drink is exactly what I wanted and usually do not get.
The second drink, a double pull of espresso, initiated a discussion between myself and the three baristas that were staffing the establishment. I am used to people who do long pulls who tend to get a significant amount of bitters beyond the extraction of full flavor. The barista that was performing the pulls for the espresso was quite adamant that she can perform a double long pull without any bitters. She was correct. The crema was perfect on this shot. The flavor was smooth with almost a non-existent bitter profile. This is a very impressive feat for any barista.
We acquired a few bakery items. A peanut butter cookie, a molasses cookie, and a Reese's donut.
Each of these bakery items were made with care. The flavors of each of these items while specific to the actual item itself were spot on. As you can see in the photos each of these cookies were quite large. If you look at the molasses cookie specifically you will see only my fingertips behind the cookie. I can palm a basketball.
I do want to call out the chocolate frosting on the Reese's donut that was quite the phenomenal flavor. It was smooth, creamy, and chocolatey deliciousness in every single bite. The yeast donut base was very flaky. The Reese's topping was similar to what is used when you order a Reese's flurry.
As someone who travels through this area many times throughout the year, this will be a must stop location every single time unless they...
Read moreMy wife and I visited for the second time today and it was so good! This quaint, tastefully decorated and comfy coffee shop, located near the intersection of M-115 and US-55 is in a great location. The owner Laura is so nice and welcoming. They have a drive-thru, but also provide sit-down low and high tables with comfortable chairs.
First, regarding the coffee. I’m a little selective and rarely endorse coffee shops as I find most of them over-priced and disappointing compared to what I can make at home. I usually order my beans from out of state, grind and make espresso drinks daily. So when my wife and I come across a great coffee shop, and like it, we want to let others know about it.
We sampled some shots of decaf and regular espresso. The beans Laura uses are supplied by Grand Rapids Coffee Roasters, so they are high quality beans. The espresso was excellent in both decaf and regular varieties. Good enough for me to buy a bag of beans for home. We ordered plain coffee as well as Lattes. They were both excellent!
And if the coffee wasn’t enough, you really need to sample their pastries. Some were provided by Blue Heron Cafe, which looked good, but we sampled the giant cookies made by the owner Laura. Absolutely fabulous! Recommend the Molasses, Chocolate Chip, and Chewy Coconut. And if her cooking skills are anything like her baking skills, I’m certain her breakfast and lunch items would be...
Read moreWe were looking for a locally owned coffee shop while staying in Cadillac. We almost went to another one, but I'm so glad we found this spot. Went both days on our trip. Both times we got an iced caramel macchiato. This was the best espresso drink I've ever had. The espresso had a really good coffee flavor to it. It wasn't bitter or weak. The drink was just sweet enough! I wish we had one in Indiana. A thousand times better than competitors! The first day I had a sausage, egg, and cheese Bagel. The ingredients seemed fresh and the sandwich was not too hard, very easy to enjoy! Sometimes bage sandwiches can be hard, not here. And to top things off, the employees were extremely friendly. Very welcoming, let me take my time ordering. I didn't feel rushed. And to top all of that, I saw the owner working two days in a row. It is nice to see an owner helping out associates and not just bossing and having everyone work for them. Definitely doesn't feel corporate. The owner was very sweet and...
