Cadillac is about as quaint as a decrepit strip mall, one need only look around at the career degenerates on disability.
Having said that, this was my first true rural middle America experience. I came into this establishment the second time in one day. Obviously not one to blend in to the locals; trailer meth lab entrepreneurs, child molesting uncles or anyone who married his sister.
The woman behind the counter, who could very well of been my age but the hard life she endured was well written between the cracks of her stoic expressions.
She bluntly inquired about me returning to the bakery. My response was jovial and that these delicious delectables were not only for me but to be shared, not to be a confused with a glutton.
Her guttural response was that of "it's a security measure, that's all"
HahHa ok please tell me what security measure revolves around asking if I came again and without checking ID or signature to match?
Perhaps there are a light caramel/brown entourage of ninjas stealing credit cards for $1.25 pastries.

Read moreI’ve been in Michigan for more than twenty years and I am ashamed it took me this long to try a pasty.
Beef Pasties - $9: 50 cents extra for gravy. This seems to be the authentic deal. It is a pastry stuffed with potatoes, onion, rutabaga (I didn’t notice a huge flavor of this), salt, pepper, and eurobutter. You can choose chicken or beef and I chose beef. It was served plenty hot from a warmer. Though it was not made to order, it did not taste stale or anything.
They mentioned copper and iron miners made these for a good hardy meal and one that would stay warm for a long time. It is a UP delight.
Service: They were quick, helpful, and answered my questions. They also take large orders.
Atmosphere: They have indoor tables and chairs, but also picnic tables outside. It was a quaint Michigan atmosphere with some old antiques and games.
Conclusion: I’d recommend every Michigander give them a try.
Visited on a Tuesday a little...
Read moreBeen stopping here on my way to Sleeping Bear/ Traverse City for as long as I can remember with my family and im 35. I’ve done a pasty crawl through the UP but these WERE my fav. Peeps there used to be nice. I felt rushed in and out and like a total inconvenience. They had none ready which when you time your drive to get them for breakfast is disappointing. Had to get burger king… and take cold ones to bake and i hope they are still good. They changed all the signs and i wonder if its new owners. They completely took Mr.Foise out of the sign and name it seems. Usually get some both on the way up and the way back down but will no longer go out of my way to time my stop here. Will update if I ever stop again but really sad if this...
