China City Restaurant — Restaurant in California

I'm vegan; so I ordered the mixed vegetables and vegetable noodles dishes. The vegetables were cooked al dente--not overcooked nor undercooked. There were plenty of veggies with both dishes too. However, it was obvious the dishes were cooked for the bland European palate. The sauce for the veggies was water mixed with a bit of corn starch. They were not cooked with any of the typical Chinese ingredients such as ginger, garlic, sesame oil, white pepper, ... The sauce for the vegetable noodles was water with a bit of soy sauce. Again, it was very bland. I had to use the packages of soy sauce and hot mustard to liven up both dishes before eating them. Next time, I will ask them to add ginger and garlic when cooking both dishes, and if I'm still not satisfied, I will go...

I'm writing another review for China City 10 years after my last review! I really hope they read this, because, I have to give them a HUGE applause 👏! In 10 years they have still maintained the same excellent quality food, friendly customer service, and clean restaurant. The servers were so, so nice and accommodating. The food was amazing!!!! So tasty, delicious noodles, lots of juicy chicken in the Sesame and General chickens we ordered. Everything is high quality. Even in the day an age we're things are going downhill and getting expensive, China City has remained the best Chinese Restaurant, I think ,ever! China City Restaurant in Cameron Park pleasantly surprised us during our recent visit. The standout dish was undoubtedly the spicy chicken, which left our taste buds tingling with its flavorful kick. Additionally, we had the prawns in lobster sauce and chicken fried rice. I personally didn't enjoy the prawns much, felt it lacked grounded meat for that extra taste.
