Knudsen's Restaurant-Ice Creamery — Restaurant in California

As a diner / local eatery Knudsen's Ice Creamery is flat average. The waitstaff are generally friendly but average in service. The tables and chairs have that not-quite-clean feeling you get in places like Denny's and the food (while better than you will find in any Denny's) is regular diner fare.

But that's NOT why you come to Knudsen's, it's not Knudsen's neighborhood diner, it's not Knudsen's burger joint, it's Knudsen's Ice Creamery and that's why it gets four stars from me. It's like Fenton's in Piedmont and I think it is a fair comparison - also unlike Fenton's this place is not as widely known and is easer to get to, park, and get served. If you don't want the wait but want a great ice cream something I recommend giving Knudsen's a try!

The selection of ice cream is large and the flavors are good. They make great Sundays and specialty piles of ice-creamy goodness. I try to get a different ice cream concoction each time I visit and have yet to be disappointed. The family has also made getting the sweet potato fries a regular, they come with marshmallow fluff!

Knudsen's also has an added bonus: A huge selection of house made chocolates and fudge, one that gives See's a run for its money (in selection, for quality it leaves See's...

I havent been here in a long time, but I decided to go recently and it was slightly busy and it was 3-4 employees. But the cashier Maria, seemed very helpful. I watched her take an order from a family of four before me. Once they walked away and sat outside, she never acknowledged me nor the couple behind me. She decided to go help the three people who was cooking.(They didnt ask for help)As I WAITED for the to take my order, she then insisted to help TWO people deliver the order. Then while the others returned back in. She decided to STAY outside and chit chat.I waited another 8 mins till the other realized she was not going to help me. So after I ate,I left, then decided to come back to speak to the manager. And when I entered she was about to go to the cash register but quickly did a turn around when she saw me. I dont know this lady so it was obvious she had a issue with something else about me.And I know it wasnt my FASHION appearence! Im glad that my son was not old enough to detect what was REALLY going on. I was REALLY offended that the possible color of my skin altered her customer...

I have gone to the ice creamery since I was a young girl and I used to love it! But $8 for a adult size milkshake in a skinny tall glass...WOW! I can get 2 gallons of ice cream at the store and make 6-8 milkshakes for the price of one at the ice creamery. Ordered a BLT and there was hardly any bacon, so I asked for extra and got charged $3 for 2 slices extra...WOW AGAIN! My daughter got sliders cooked well done and they were dang near raw. Had to wait 20 more minutes for new ones. My husband ordered a philly cheesesteak for $13(OMG) and there was barly any meat and over taken with bell pepper. Onion, cheese and bread. He would have been better off getting one from the philly cheesesteak shop for less money and WAY more meat across the street. This place I feel is a ripe off for cafe style food and OK ice cream. Extremely over priced low quality and quantity food. Very disappointed and wont be going there anymore! Bye bye...
