Mikey's Burger Bar — Restaurant in California

I found this spot through an Instagram post and decided to check it out on a Saturday night around 9:30. The place was empty, which isn’t unusual for the area. I met Mikey—super nice guy, really passionate about what he’s doing. We chatted a bit, and he mentioned there aren’t many pop-ups like his around here, which is true.

The service was great, and even though I wasn’t all that hungry, I wanted to give it a try. I ordered a regular smash burger with cheese and added jalapeños. I’m usually pretty easygoing when it comes to smash burgers, but I have to be honest—this one was extremely salty. At first, I thought it might’ve been the jalapeños, but the meat itself was heavily salted. Maybe it was the time of night or the fact that not many burgers had been made that evening, and the grill had built up some salt—hard to say. But whatever the reason, the flavor was just off.

It’s disappointing because I really wanted to like it. Mikey clearly cares about what he’s doing, and I respect that. I might give it another shot in the future. That said, at $11 a burger, I was expecting a better experience. If it were closer to $7, I probably wouldn’t mind as much—but at that price point, the bar’s...

For all the spam accounts saying this is a 1 star place is completely false. I’ve been going to Mikey for a couple months and he’s been nothing but great.

The food is consistently amazing and I can always rely on a damn good meal with him. He makes everything by order, and never gets my order wrong ever. We’ve chopped it up so many times and he’s such a genuine, hard-working dude. The food is extremely high quality. I honestly go here at least a couple times a month. I crave it.

I don’t know who is putting these one star reviews, but whoever is considering this place, please read the 5 star reviews because this really is a 5 star place. Literally the best smash burgers I’ve ever had.

I’ve been hearing the term slam burger not too long ago but after trying Mikey’s I know the true meaning of where it got its name and why. Mike makes his out of black Angus beef, 80% 20. He also double fries his fries. you can order a combination with cheese, Slamburger plate for $15 which is really reasonable seeming quality and the portion. You also receive a drink with that. He’s located at vendors Row in front of Nogales high school. He sells other food items but I come for his slam burger with cheese combination. There’s no outside and inside dining, but you can sit in your car in the parking lot and eat there or take home .I like this place...
