First the criticism: 1. Criticism: earlier this year or last year 2020 ( so maybe not relevant but still hope this doesn’t happen again) despite being open for service and having servers touch the forks and spoons of patrons… they did not let a person charge their phone when they were trying to order a lyft. One had gone there and accidentally found that their battery was drained really low when they needed a ride home ( after spending a nice amount ). They host staff was not capable of lending an iPad wire ( of which they function off of) or anything (no options) to help someone order a Lyft home with a dying phone. Please don’t let that happen ever again unless you think someone is a total wackodoodle! ( was this the case? Haha) Your customers are bunch of people who are probably culturally conditioned ( or just that way) to want to take care of themselves and do not want to be treated this way. Whatever kind of people, people need to get home safely, especially people their money and trust in a place— shouldn’t have to worry about getting home at night in a car dominant place?
Fast forward— no battery issues, front of the house staff is amazing, the food is amazing as usual. The wine is great; overall, this is a great spot for ambience and food. All recipes are solid with an excellent balance of flavor and texture — I found myself saying to my partner that I wanted to go because it was not unhealthy but not anywhere close to boring or dull. Highly highly recommend for food and general service :) the servers are knowledgeable about wine, food, and the ambience is charming and aesthetically pleasing. Always a perfect...
Read moreWe arrived a few minutes before our outdoor reservation (5:15pm) and were seated immediately. The hostess was polite and friendly and soon after being seated our waiter arrived. We received bread and oil/vinegar on the house. The bread was good but not remarkable - reminded me of the fresh bread if you buy it soon after it is baked at Safeway.
Right on time, it seemed, we were asked what we wanted to order. We settled on the Rigatoni and Ravioli. On both, we were asked if we wanted to add additional meats on top. My girlfriend is vegetarian so we didn't add anything to her Ravioli (spinach, ricotta, lemon cream, citrus gremolata). I elected to add a meatball to my Rigatoni (six hour pork & beef bolognese, grana, Seka Hills olive oil).
Both entrees tasted very good. The ravioli had a distinct but not overpowering lemon taste and the rigatoni had a strong, meaty taste with a generous ratio of meat vs pasta. Both entrees left us with a bit of an appetite so we elected to get dessert. The gelato and cheesecake both were good but not remarkable, perhaps a little better than the quality you'd find at the Nugget.
The vibes and atmosphere of the restaurant were pleasant, it had the right amount of ambient noise for a date night and there were string lights and a lit outdoor fountain.
Four stars instead of five because, in my opinion, the portion sizes were a bit small on...
Read moreWe celebrated my good friend's birthday and it was a lovely dinner. Piatti is tucked inside of the Pavilions Shopping Center. I love this mall with some of my favorite shops like Athleta and Williams Sonoma. It's charming and quaint just like the inside of the restaurant.
We shared Fritto Misto as an appetizer. I like the jumbo prawns and calabrian chili aioli sauce, but the flavor or seasoning was lacking a little. The fresh ciabatta bread with piatti signature dipping sauce made up for it. Highly recommend the bread, especially if you plan to order pasta.
I had the Radiatore with 6 hour beef & pork bolognese, grana padano, seka hills olive oil. It was hearty with a burst of flavors. It tasted even better the next day as leftovers.
My friend got the fried pork chop, and it was juicy and savory. The cripsy crust gives it even more flavor. The side of polenta was the best part! I can't cook polenta for the life of me, and I always try to order it when I dine out. The consistency was perfect, and the sweet corn was the cherry on top. Delicious!
A nice wine list, and we both enjoyed our choice of red wine. Our server Donna was very attentive and friendly.
Beautiful outdoor patio with umbrellas, heaters, and small fountains. They have live music on Friday and Saturday night on the patio. I'm already planning to come here for my...
