OMG Mikunis Sushi is phenomenal! We had to wait 45 minutes to be seated but it was SO worth it. It was me and my husbands big date night out. We went overboard on food but it was totally worth it. The garlic Edamame was delicious. My husband ordered a sashimi plate. I don't usually eat sashimi because it usually isn't the finest of quality to it doesn't have the texture I am looking for but this sashimi just melted in my mouth and was fantastic. I also orders some mushroom thing which was delicious and we ordered 2 rolls each. This was a special night out so we didn't skimp :-) Oh and we ordered calamari too. Now the calamari had good flavor but was inconsistent. Some were done just right and some were way over cooked. Though I can totally overlook the fact that the calamari was over because we were able to go overboard its definitely something I would have mentioned any other time. By the time our rolls cam we ended up taking half of them home because were were so full. Their rolls were perfect. Not too much sauce. Many restaurants will put way to much sauce on their rolls. They on the other hand used just enough so it added to the flavor and complimented the rolls themselves and let the rolls flavors shine as opposed to other places where they put so much sauce on their rolls where that is all you can taste. Also on a non food related note. Their employees are amazing great fast and kind service. Especially in the time now with all of the changes and having to work completely outside that can make for a hard day. We were outside in the tent as that is the only dine in style they can handle at this time. It was a cold night outside but because we were in the tent it was nice and warm. The whole experience was fantastic. I would recommend...

Pros
Cons
Conclusion This location was just opened not too long ago. Beautiful inside. Sushi were all good. I'm disappointed in the Zig Zag roll. But still ate it anyways. There wasn't much flavor in the zig zag. The rest of sushi were all good. Server and staffs were nice. Spin the when is a fun touch. Love that they provided a bday candle on the deep fried eggroll cheesecake desert. I'd go here again! Try this new location, if...
Read moreMikuni as a franchise is known for high quality sushi served in really nice, sleek looking and snazzy restaurants. This Mikuni is no exception to that rule. Food wise, the thing that separates Mikuni from most sushi restarants is that they give bigger portions of fish in each roll compared to say Bento Box near Sac State or Aloha in Folsom, which fill their rolls with bigger ratios of cheaper ingredients like cream cheese, cucumber or avocado. However, those bigger fish portions obviously comes with a noticably higher price, and some rolls at Mikuni can be almost twice as expensive for their equivalents at other places (i.e. the iconic Philadelphia and California rolls), and sushi in general is typically an expensive food already even at "lower end" places which will usually taste fine. A lot of people don't necessarily even find a fishier taste to be a better taste or just really like avocado and cream cheese so which you have to be the one to determine which is the better option for you.
If you want bigger fish portions and a nicer looking restaurant then Mikuni is a better option than most sushi. This franchise is great for celebrations and definitely has a great atmosphere to bring people to. If you like sushi, this franchise is definitely something you should try at least once in your life. Also, they have some less common options for their nigiri choices...
