I would like to commend the manager and waiter at Ruby’s Hideaway for their professionalism in handling some recent patrons who came in drunk. I have been eating at Ruby’s for many years now and love the food, service and the fact that it’s a quiet restaurant where you can easily hear the person you are talking with, especially around the 5PM hour when most seniors like myself are eating.
So on my last visit some patrons after entering the front door could be heard LOUDLY talking and LAUGHING. I thought they were simply carrying on a conversation from outside and would settle down and behave themselves after the other customers turned and looked at them accepting the hint that they were too loud. After being seated at the table near us their loud talking and laughter became so obnoxious it was obvious that they were highly intoxicated. Their conversation became increasingly inappropriate so I finally complained to the waiter and manager.
The manager actually informed me that several other customers had already complained about them and my complaint was the tipping point for the manager to spring into action. I watched as the manager politely addressed these patrons and asked them to please keep it down as other customers were complaining about the language they were using and how loud their table was. I could tell the moment the manager informed them that other customers hand complained as the patrons all turned and looked at the rest of the customers who were all already looking at them.
It appears the Patrons understood that their intoxication was out of control and their behavior was not appropriate as they were clearly embarrassed with everyone staring at them.
The Manager’s handling of the situation was exemplary and showed he had a clear understanding of satisfying the customer’s needs in maintaining an enjoyable pleasant and quite dining experience for all. As I left and paid my bill the manager was at the hostess station and I shook his hand and thanked him for taking care of a volatile situation with a smile on his face. He laughed as I told him I would definitely continue coming in for my 5PM meal as long as he continued...
Read moreSo I'm about to share with you my real experience with this restaurant. Yesterday Fri dec 2nd I made reservations for 2 at 6pm. I was very excited to go here as I never been. The online menu looked amazing with the pictures and all the great reviews. So I called my date and we agreed to go to this establishment. We get there i will admit about 5 to maybe 10min late as traffic was bad. We were coming from Dixon, CA I left a little after 430pm thinking that would be enough time. Anyways we get seated quickly even thou we were late so that was great. The lady gives us menus and takes our drink orders. 2 waters 1 7up. We got 2 waters. Ok no big deal its Friday night so we ask for the soda again when the food arrives and she brings it out. Ok so here's why this place is getting 3 stars. After receiving our food I got a prime rib dinner! My date got the lobster ravioli. My prime rib was cooked how I asked. The food on general thought was not all that great. We both were disappointed. The ravioli were swimming in sauce almost more like a soup. My prime rib dinner was just ok very basic baked potatoe a few green beans and the prime rib witch is suppose to be the star of the plate but honestly those green beans were better. We both just weren't taken away with this place at all. The service I felt could of been better also with what the restaurant puts off of being a nice fancy steakhouse. So unfortunately I only give this place 3 stars. If I had to compare it to something simular Texas Roadhouse is definitely better with with there food and service atleast the one in...
Read moreGreat server: Jim S., and everyone from hostess, seater, bartenders and bussers everyone was friendly, professional and attentive; especially Jim he timed the arrival of our food just right it came out hot and we didn’t feel “rushed” between courses.
I believe one of owners (tall, older gentleman with sling) seated us, very sweet and accommodating.
Ambiance very nice, great lighting not to bright or dark and artwork beautiful and fun without being pretentious, casual dress or work casual fits in perfectly.
Food Amazing!!! value to portion sizes Excellent!!! All that we were served and our neighbors looked just like pictures. Red Lobster is school cafeteria compared to here.
Just wish there was more than 5 pieces of LOBSTER POT STICKERS to an order because it was that good and in combination with dipping sauce perfect. 🤤. I need 10 to an order but could I’d eaten 20. 🤣
Fried Calamari strips: very generous portion (thick) but tender, hot & juicy NOT rubbery and cocktail sauce had just the right amount of spice. 😋
Lobster Ravioli: FILLED with lobster & claw meat and served with rich cream sauce topped with Shrimp & Parmesan cheese 👌🏼 Pasta was not chewy.
King Crab Legs: meaty, sweet, hot, tender, juicy, fresh salt ocean taste and needed NO butter.🤙🏼
Boston Clam Chowder: thick, rich, hot and the pepper Bacon brought it up a notch, so good. 😃
Food was NOT over or under seasoned, oily or salty. Drinks are Not watered down.
We will definitely be back and hopefully Jim S will...
