Sangria Wine and Tapas Bar — Restaurant in California

Charming interior and great Sangria unfortunately offset by an a staff that doesn’t know how to pull it off. Three or four waitresses circulating often doing little while an unseen cook is overwhelmed by the food orders. We waited 40-45 minutes for a $21 cheese plate that looked like it had items cobbled together from Costco. Upon our departure I remarked to a waitress how we had waited for this simple item and yet anyone could have thrown green grapes, four cheeses, almonds, dried apricots, a jam, and crackers on a wooden platter in a few minutes, and she curtly replied, “I am not a cook.” Earlier, a waitress had brought one of our items and set the demi-plates in front of us–just as we were about to cut into it, another waitress comes up and says, sorry, this is for another table, and they snatched it up.

I cannot fault the sangria. It was delicious, although it was served in a poorly designed pitcher which kept the lovely pieces of fruit from pouring into my glass.

We won’t go back. We live in Carmel Valley and there are much nicer...

On pure impulse, we drove into Carmel Valley Village for a bite. After months of seeing the “coming soon” sign we noticed that they were now open, so we gave the place a try... Great wine, absolutely delicious small dishes... octopus, cheeses, empañadas, salad, wine and sangria. Very nice decor. We had a wonderful experience, especially with the great personal time given to us by the main staff Pablo and???), wish I could remember both their names).

Also, they have a very mini-tienda (actually a few shelves) of packaged ingredients that they use in their recipes, so that people can experiment at home making their own dishes.

Please Don’t be fooled by the name, yes they have Sangria, however they are serve wine(by the glass, bottle and even have wine flights) and beer.
