It is small and sits in a little shopping center so I didn’t have too high of expectations. We simply wanted a good Italian meal after church on a Sunday morning. Initially, I was going to order soup and salad but with the choices of vegetable minestrone and seafood bisque, I wasn’t confident that would be enough. So I ordered meat ravioli, chose the seafood bisque soup with a tall glass of ice cold beer. My mate ordered fettuccine, with meatballs, with a Caesar salad (water only). The beer came and the bread with balsamic and oil for dipping. It looked like ciabatta, which my experience had a crusty style to it so I thought “...good, less carbs”... but this was garlicky, soft and buttery. So touching it was a pleasure to begin with but to dip and have it melt in your mouth was a treat. I commented “I am pleasantly surprised it is so good!”. Then my soup came, and let me tell you, my mouth is watering typing this for y’all... it was a thick tomato seasoned sauce with hints of seafood and cheese... very cheesy taste in each bite. I commented again... “if I knew it was this good, I would have just ordered this!”. I devoured it in a flash and commented again “...I wonder if they would let me order some angel hair with this on top?” I was already planning for our next trip! Let me say my mates salad looked green, cold and fresh, and I wish I had gotten one, but he didn’t offer me a taste until he was almost finished... by then what’s the point? The praise continues for the main dishes... creamy, fragrant, tasty and filling, we couldn’t eat it all.
Bottom line, you won’t go wrong eating here and I can’t wait to go back! It is easy to spend $25-30 at these fast food places and we agreed it is well worth it to spend $15-20 extra dollars (btw that probably is because of my 2 beers) and you get to enjoy an amazing, tantalizing meal in a quaint cafe setting with good service.
Note: I was not asked to provide a review, nor was I paid for it. I have never reviewed a restaurant but this was such an awesome meal, I had to review. Thank...
Read moreThe Strings in my area had closed permanently. I knew there were other Strings in the Sacramento area. Me and my family were in the area and decided to go to the Carmichael one. I ordered the pizza. It wasn’t as big as it was at the other location. The price was $18.99. It was stale tasting. Definitely not worth the price. My sister got the lasagna combo with penne Alfredo sauce. The sauce on the lasagna tasted like it was days old and had been on a heat source for hours. It had a dark red color that only happens when it has been warmed up then refrigerated and then warmed again. It was gagging my sister. The Alfredo sauce was yellow and thick and lumpy. Something that happens when it has been on a heat source for a long time. My mom had fettuccine Alfredo. The sauce was yellow and thick and lumpy. It wouldn’t even coat the noodles when stirring it. She asked for more sauce and it still wasn’t enough to coat all the noodles. We ended up sending it all back and decided not to get anything else. The sever was nice. I gave her a 30% tip. After we left and thought about it. I thought they were being shitty about it. We were charged for the salad. We did eat most of the salad even though it tasted more like vinegar than anything else. We we charged for the bread. We didn’t actually ask for bread. I know it comes with the meals. The bread was dry and flavorless. Even if you order a salad only you still get the bread for free. So that’s why I think they were being shitty about it and trying to get the most money out of us. I ended up paying $28 tip included for a vinegar salad and dry bread. I wish I would of thought to take a picture of it all. It was very disappointing . I am pretty sure they don’t care, but we won’t be coming back. That location should be closed down and bring back the one in my area. It was amazing. We ended up going to Jimboy’s tacos in Yuba city on...
Read moreFood is delicious. We've been here a few times before with family. We like the atmosphere and friendly service so we try to come here for dinner when we come to visit family. Tonight however, was the first time we were disappointed with the service. We were seated, then had to get the attention of a wait staff for even getting water / drinks / bread at the table. The 1 hostess was clearly overwhelmed by not only seating customers, but waiting on and serving the call in pick up orders, trying to take drink orders, food orders, bus tables and serve food. We sat for 30 min before she was able to ask what we wanted to drink. The 2 waitresses on the floor were also overwhelmed, as the restaurant was busy, but not full. One waitress finally came to take our order, but didn't bring bread, or our waters / drinks already ordered with the hostess. She wrote our food orders and disappeared. 20 minutes later she not only managed to screw up 2 orders at our table, but the food was not hot - had abviously been sitting under a heat lamp waiting to be served. My mother's order had to be returned as she had asked for white sauce but was served red sauce on her chicken. Then it took another 20 minutes for mom to be served. My brother asked no less than 4 times for extra marinara sauce and each time our waitress said she would be right back with it. We asked for bread 3 times before getting a basket. The whole time all this was occurring, the owners were at the end of the bar talking and never offered to help, nor even acknowledge there were obvious staffing issues tonight. Pity, the restaurant lost 4 customers who won't be returning...
