Sweet Spot McKinleyville — Restaurant in California

The elderly woman that works there (sorry no name tag) was absolutely rude. My son was turning 6 and I took him here with his baby sister, my adult mom, sister, her husband, and my dad. They brought two presents. We all bought food, ice cream, drinks, and used $20 in quarters in their machines. I only mention this because I want u to know we didn’t take advantage of this situation. We spent more then a decent amount of money and didn’t require, ask for, or do anything extra then someone that would have just walked in. The elderly lady walked up to me and said are you having a party here? I told her” no not really.” I mean it’s two kids and four adults. I’d hardly consider that a party. She said “well we don’t do that here if people see you they will want to do it to.” So she had me take my sons presets to the car. As we were leaving my mom asked “ so u don’t do party’s here anymore?” She told my mom “no, we do. But you have to book it” my mom asked if they charge for it. The lady told her no.

So all that being said. We still tipped with every purchase we made before and after her rudeness. I only mention that because i would like you to know we weren’t rude we were cleaning up after our self’s and the kids and being normal reasonable people. As we should. So I don’t think we deserved her horrible attitude at all. Not to mention I waited 15 minutes at the counter in an empty shop for anyone to even show up to take my order. The fact that she was so rude and giving dirty looks the whole time was just over kill. They didn’t have a lot of things they sell. “Chocolate dipped cones, cones with sprinkles, chili, and the waffle cones they did have were soft. She’s telling us that there’s no charge for party’s. Somehow everyone would know we didn’t let them know in advance. Two kids. Two presents. No decorations. Not a group of kids, two are unacceptable. My son opened his presents in my tiny Prius in the parking lot. Mind you there was several people that came in with kids that bought one thing or nothing, brought in little baskets with toys and just let their kids play on all the machines and hit the machines and be rough with them . They didn’t even stick quarters in. Which I don’t mind. Not everyone wants to waste their money and some don’t have it. H**l I didn’t have the money to spend either. I just don’t see why it was necessary for her to act the way she did. Me and my family will not be returning to this establishment again. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. It’s a cute spot, and I come often because it’s a family owned business and I love to play pool and they’ve got a Pac-Man machine 🥰 The people here are kind and the ice cream is good. I’m giving it a low rating simply because the people working are ALWAYS gone. Every time I’ve come I’ve had the same experience.. waiting to order food or to ask questions and the girl is never there. I have to sit for upwards of 15-20 minutes to talk to her and order food. One of the machines took my quarters and didn’t work, I waited to tell someone for 20 minutes before they came back. I’ve looked for them around the place and nothing. I’ve come with my little siblings a few times and more than once I’ve had to leave without icecream because no one was there! Just bad. They’re losing customers because of this. We had an event here today, 2/9/2019, and it was possibly the worst experience using a venue that I've ever had. We booked over a month ago, but to our surprise, they double booked today with an hour overlap. When we inquired about what was going on, the lady behind the counter literally said to us: "This isn't our fault and you'll just have to deal with it." They then took half of the space away from the other party to give it to us, which enraged the other party and caused them to be very belligerent towards us. We couldn't finish setting up until after when our party was supposed to start, and had to deal with both the staff and the previous party being extremely rude. I would never book here again....
