Taqueria Los Compadres — Restaurant in California

Los Compadres is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Sacramento. Unfortunately, due to poor customer service, I will not be returning.

I received a gift card a few weeks ago and went in to use it. When I handed it to the manager, he tried and tried to enter the card for payment. He then informed me that the card was never activated. If he had just asked if I could get a receipt, I would have understood that the card issuer had made an error and I would have returned with a receipt on my next visit.

That’s not what happened. The manager proceeded to tell me that they hadn’t issued any gift cards in a long time and looked at me like I was trying to get away with something. That’s when I lost it and walked out.

He then saw me outside on the phone standing next to my Porsche and ran out to ask me if I could get a receipt. When I told him his comment about not issuing any gift cards was BS, he changed his story to say he hadn’t personally issued any gift cards. Why make that comment at all? Unless, he thought he was being swindled.

The person who gave me the card returned with the receipt the next day and they activated the card. I won’t be using it, so they came out ahead.

They turned a small mistake into a lost customer with one poor comment. Train your people that not everyone is trying to...

Okay, first I want to say the first time I ordered my food here was by doordash.. Now having my own car, I drive from Madison to Fair Oaks for their food. I can def say there is a language barrier FOR SURE which makes it hard to get exactly what you need at times.

I normally get the taco salad no cheese with ground beef and black beans, for my husband its either 2 or 3 ground beef enchiladas with rice and black beans NO CHESE NO SOUR CREAM. Somehow we've accomplished more than once to have our order made improperly. Today the order was improperly made, again. I checked both plates at the restaurant and asked for one to be fixed. However, upon getting home and prepping the other plate (taco bowl), I seen instead of black beans I had pinto..

I would give 4 stars but the language barrier is a real downfall to this establishment because the food is really good..

P.S. Also to people who except complimentary chip and salsa for Doordash your ignorant. That is apart of the experience at the restaurant.. You'd have to pick that up yourself. I used to doordash and postmates.. Chips and salsa is not apart of your order, its extra && optional for the driver just...

This is our absolute favorite taqueria in all of Sacramento! My boyfriend and I have been living here for nearly a year and we have tried a lot of different taquerias and Mexican restaurants, none of them quite satisfying our cravings. We first discovered this taqueria less than a week ago, and have since ordered from them 3 times even though they're 12 minutes away from our house! The staff is super friendly and accommodating, we've had great experiences dining on their outdoor patio and ordering take out. I usually don't write reviews (I think this is the first food establishment I've ever reviewed now that I think of it), but this taqueria deserves all the five star ratings it can get!
