The Old Spaghetti Factory has always been a long time favorite of mine since first dining there at the Trolley Square location in Salt Lake City, Utah. Each of the Spaghetti Factory restaurants I’ve dined at, including three in the greater Sacramento area, has duplicated that old time railway car atmosphere. This one, located off highway 50, is no exception. The lunch menu is surprisingly served until 4:00 each day and offers a good variety of Spaghetti Factory favorites. The cost savings between the lunch and dinner menu appears to be anywhere from $3-$5. The server was very attentive and immediately brought us their complimentary signature loaf of freshly baked bread and garlic butter, and kept out water glasses full. Our salad, which was part of our meal, came out quickly. If you don’t like a ton of salad dressing, request light dressing or get it on the side. My favorite is the house pesto. It is delicious. The portion size for lunch was just right and about half to two thirds the size of the dinner entree. The entree shown in the photo that I’m holding is called the “Manager’s Favorite”, which is a “you pick two” type of entree. I ordered the misithera and meat sauce as my two sauce choices. I loved the misithera, but the meat sauce tasted a little too much like it came from the jar. I believe they do make their own sauces daily, however. With a diner entree, your meal will come with a small scoop of ice cream. With lunch, however, you’ll pay if you want this as an add on.

If you are hankering for a spaghetti meal, Old Spaghetti Factory (OSF) in the Nimbus Winery building in Rancho Cordova, CA, is worth checking out. They are located off Highway 50's Hazel Avenue exit. The interior of restaurant decor is a fun eye catching mash of 1800s Wild West, art deco, and modern industrial. They have a bar area. In the dining room, they have a train car that you can dine in. The dining room can accommodate a large group as well as the solo diner. But I recommend calling ahead if you have a large group, just to make sure they can accommodate you. My favorite entree at OSF is the potpourri. No, I'm not talking about dried scented flowers. OST's potpourri is the entree of spaghetti served with four different sauces. Brown butter & mizithra cheese, clam sauce, marinara sauce, and meat tomato sauce. $19.99. The entree is served in three courses. The options are choice of a green salad or soup and dessert of vanilla or spumoni ice cream. Plus you will be provided a complimentary bread loaf. It is served warm with a side of whipped butter. The spaghetti is not outstanding nor is it bad either. Just basic simple spaghetti. The pasta is cooked perfectly, not soggy or al dente. The green salad is iceberg lettuce based. I always find it to be refreshing. It is even served in a chilled bowl. The warm bread is delish. OSF also offers gluten free spaghetti for an additional cost.

We have been to this spaghetti factory a couple of times and every time it is amazing. The service was fantastic, I called on my way to Sacramento from Redding Ca. I was still 2 hours away and seen they would be closing right around the time we would be getting there. So I called to see when they were going to be doing last seating. I then asked if I could make reservations for right at that time? Reservations made driving down as I'm getting closer I see I'm going to be just a few minutes late like just before they are closing, no problem sir see you shortly. Get there get seated and notice there is a train car with seating inside, asked to sit in there. Absolutely sir let us get your table cleaned up and you may seated. Service was amazing the waitress was fantastic sorry forgot to get a name. The food WOW it was definitely some of the best we have ever had. I would definitely suggest you eat here if you are looking for great food at a great price. The artwork is very nice.
