We just visited here for lunch. Being that I am gluten allergic, my choices are limited outside home. I was happy to find the 14" gluten free pizza here is safe for allergen issues. If you don't have the bbq sauce on it...which is how it's usually served, the pulled pork and brisket are said to be safe as well. They do have burgers, but no gluten free bun and the fries are unsafe because they are battered.
Now that I've covered that, the parking lot is well marked, if small 6 or 7 spaces). There are street parking spaces as well. The place has a lot of funny signs throughout, especially behind the bar. There were two women working the place when we arrived. It is much larger than first appears, as there is seating all the way back, as well as additional patio seating in the parking lot. There is a garage door beside the entry door which is likely raised on warmer days.
I had questions regarding food allergens and flavors of hard cider. They were very patient and knowledgeable. I was given the option to try a couple cider variatles in an attempt to figure out what I like. I very much appreciated that. I did go with the dry as it is not sweet and balanced our thai chicken pizza well...as the server suggested it would. She knows her stuff. My husband had the root beer on tap. It syrupy but has more body than store bought root beer. I appreciate the option for 8 or 12oz glass choices on cider or anything on tap. I'm a lightweight and usually can't finish a 16oz cider during a meal.
The pizza is hands down the best gluten free crust in this area for those who are allergic to gluten and wheat. Thanks to thier 500 degree oven and conveyor cooking method, the crust is nice and crispy. This is not cracker crust or pan...it's more of a thin crust, which I admittedly prefer.
The chicken was tender. There were frezh onions and cilantro on the pizza. The cheese was fresh and deliciously stringy. The staff bring out chili flake and parm powder dispensers when they deliver your food, as well as paper plates to pile your slices on for munching. If you order pad thai a lot, you will like this pizza. If you don't care for sweet so much, pile on the chili flakes.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The gluten free food choices are appreciated. The seating is is a good mix of bar, bar height tables, benches and regular height tables. I do wish I didn't have to wipe food of the seat before I sat down. Overall, I would easily return. They have brisket tacos, pulled pork nachos and loaded, twice baked potatoes which are all choices as well if pizza isn't your thing. There were 6 or 7 ciders on tap. The have Double mountain dry, lime and basil tart, sweet pear and more. If you like beer, they have a long list on tap. There is a full bar here so they have some good quality whiskey...midshelf Woodenville being among the list.
They also have signs for trivia night and a stage in the back where live bands play. The only thing this place is missing, that would make it perfect, is billiards / pool tables and some dart boards.
If you haven't been here, it's worth being added to your...
Read moreMet a group of friends there - first visit, for a bite and a beer. First impression was "looks like a nice pub". Front room larger than it looks from outside, tables well spaced to avoid "you spilled my beer!". High ceilings, fading into darkness helps the spacious feeling. Lots of wood, been there awhile; definitely not a fern bar. Long bar on the left, with a massive black board behind listing the huge number of beers on tap - almost all craft offerings, many from breweries local and around the PNW. Only one stout, quite good, in a suitably sturdy mug. All drinks and food are ordered at the bar and delivered to the table. Service is friendly and efficient, not a problem to order at the bar. Interesting bar menu, like my pulled pork mac n' cheese. Nearly 5*; Quite good, including the left overs. The back room, with bandstand, and same high ceilings, has booths along one wall, and the rest of the room is populated with tables suitable for 6-8, with tops slab sawn, live edge, about 2" thick, clear grain, from trees at least 18" in diameter. Probably Doug Fir or Hemlock. Tops very smooth, durably finished with polyurethane or similar. These tables are perfect for such a pub. Several rows of 3(4?) placed end to end, spaced fairly tightly - room to move along the rows, but carefully. The tables don't move, the people do. I'd be surprised if these table tops aren't at least 30yrs old, probably closer to 50+. Lumber like that these days would carry a price that might find them in The Explorer's Club, but not here. There's also a covered outdoor seating area off the back room. The night we were there they had a quite good cover band, with the Piano Man doubling on Sax which added extra flavor. There's a fairly small dance floor between the tables and the bandstand which was well used. The only drawback was that the fan (not the heat!) for the overhead heater was full on all night which made conversation more difficult. But without it the room would have been unusable. I would definitely...
Read moreLet me just say first off, I love pub food! In no way, shape or form is this place a fine dining "special date night" kinda place. Unless, that's your jam. Then, by all means, come, enjoy your Anniversary! I was craving something greasy & filling, and the bleu cheese bacon burger did the trick! Totally hit the spot in every way! I paired it with a side salad & a pint of their Marionberry Cider. Divine!! The portions are big enough for 2 or will at least keep a large man with a hearty appetite from picking off your plate when his meal is gone. The hot wings were the size of my hand and oh so delicious with the sriracha/sweet chili sauce. The atmosphere is what you'd expect from a good pub, along with an inviting pergola for outside dining. I'd driven by several times imagining sipping a cider whilst reading a good book or a good conversation with a friend. However, my dreams were quickly destroyed when the train came by and muffled our voices. Shortly thereafter we all began slapping our bodies like we were the new eccentric entertainment for the night. Little did we know, the mosquitos were out in full force! I was literally eaten alive. I'm still itching a week later. I love this place and want to enjoy it more, but may I suggest a bug zapper or low scent citronella candles. I'm not sure about you, but I'd rather not have to douse myself with Deep Woods Off prior...
