You know when you have a bad vibe? We really wanted to like this place, some items in the menu looked really alluring, but we might have had quite a few reasons to go somewhere else: when I called to book, the hostess was kind of unpleasant. The kind that makes you put down the phone and wonder "Do I really want to go there?". Then, when being seated, the same manager, Dina, was very uncourteous with the guests before us, an elderly couple with a dog: either you are dog friendly, or you're not. You can't ask dog owners to enter from the back door! BIG BOOOO!
The food is on the low side of "okay". -Mac & cheese lacked salt in the pasta. -Pear and gorgonzola salad had virtually no gorgonzola, little pear, and was smothered in a tarragon and shallot dressing that made no sense. -The artisan cheese platter was a bitter joke for $13. -The special, a grilled teriyaki "organic" salmon cost $28 for 1x4 of salmon: that is not the problem, rather the fact that it was accompanied by rice with a raspberry seasoning that had no business being there at all. The owners call themselves "food enthusiasts": enthusiasm is a praiseworthy quality, but without knowledge and savoir-faire it is an empty shell.
I wonder about the hygiene of the place because my first glass of water had a very very very funny taste: my wishful explanation is that they used a dirty knife to cut the lemon slice, because it had a foul garlicky/sulfury taste – I love garlic, but not in my water.
Last but not least, we ordered a fair amount of food: 2 appetizers, 1 salad, bottle of wine, bread (which is of course not complimentary) and we split the $28 dollars salmon: so we got a $3 charge because we split the entree. We complained. The waitress said it was on the menu, that she agrees it's preposterous but that's the manager's rule and so it was not waived.
All in all, the food was barely okay, but the vibe of the place is sick. You see that the staff is not happy, which results in patrons not being happy, which in turns creates a nasty electric atmosphere in the...
Read moreMy husband and I came to Cambria for a little get away before some extra craziness begins in our life. Indigo moon was recommended by our hotel. As soon as we walked in I told my husband “it smells like homemade food”(first good sign) we waited only a few minutes because we didn’t have reservations. As soon as we were sat at our table we were tended to (water and drinks). We each ordered a Syrah, perfection! Looking over the menu we started with butternut squash soup and a lobster bisque. Let me tell you I’ve never had a better soup!! After the first spoonful we looked at each other in surprise. We aren’t really soup people but wow was it delicious. Next I ordered a shrimp fettuccine and my husband ordered the rib eye with mashed potatoes with broccoli. The fettuccine was delicious and the shrimp were fresh. The steak was juicy and had some amazing flavors. I know you’re thinking well what more could a steak taste like. The seasoning/herbs used to cook the steak was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted, absolutely delicious. Everything on our plates we enjoyed. At this point getting pretty stuffed from all the good food, we knew we had to taste dessert. I ordered some sort of apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and my husband order a key lime pie, you just can’t go wrong at this place it was all beyond delicious. The service was amazing. I love it when my drinks are constantly being refilled and the server was friendly and cheery. I need to mention that the atmosphere was great and inviting, can also be romantic. I loved everything about this place. The food is well priced especially for the portions. We spent a decent amount but for all we got plus 2 glasses of wine, I was surprised it wasn’t more. Not bad at all. Well worth it. And we’re thinking of going back...
Read moreI had one of the most painful and bigoted interactions of my life here. I was staying next door at bluebird inn, and while wearing baggy designer jeans, a little over a year and a half sober, and polite, experienced a hate crime. This happened April of this year. I walked in during operating hours and asked "do you serve hot tea"?. This happened near an employee POS machine. And the 2 servers then turned around hearing me ask this question to someone who was an employee. I then had 3 staff members standing side by side, refuse to speak to me, while looking at my outfit with disgust. I've never experienced more brazen cruelty. Finally someone spoke and said "you want a table ..?". I said nevermind and left. I was sobbing in the hotel lobby after. To be looked at, demeaned, and humiliated by 3 staff members standing and staring at me refusing to speak to me, when I asked someone if I could make a purchase.
It was dehumanizing and devestating. If a business is whites only, put a sign in the window and save black guests the humiliation of being judged, demeaned, and bullied. Someone looking to spend money only. Black lives matter. Black lives matter 2. Brandon. At the coffee shop down the road. Was equally as racist and mean. Does the coffee shop close at 4:56 pm or 5:00? To have him walk over interrupting a conversation I was wrapping up, and saying " were closed" while standing over 2 guests who were sitting down. The next day, I tried to bring the ice cream cone door stopper to them after a coffee. Brandon came in to his shift. When I tried to help, he used his hands gesturing to the door and physically shoo'd me away saying "we've got it".
Put up a whites only sign. And save black guests the torture and...
