We took our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter to Lumpys last weekend. This is the third time we have visited. We did not have a very good time. We moved nearby about 6 months ago and were told by people to go there. Good word of mouth advertising. To start with, after being seated right away, we waited about 15 minutes before having to flag down the waitress to get coffee served at the table. The waitress had walked right by us several times in that 15 minutes. When she eventually came back she took our orders. Realize that we now have been sitting at the table expecting normal service, nothing special, for 20 minutes. After another 15 minutes we flag down the waitress again and ask how long it would be until we were served. The answer, I'll check. Another 5 minutes roll by, nothing. Finally we ask the waitress to cancel the order, we will pay for the coffee. She goes back into the kitchen, I assume, to cancel the order. At this point I am at the register and the young lady is talking to a little man with dark hair. He seems to be agitated. I ask for my bill and he tells me that it is on the house. I thank him and asked what happened? As I said this was our third visit. Both of the previous visits were great experiences. This is the point that this turns into a $hi* Show. The little man with the dark hair starts screaming at me in front of the entire dining room of customers, shoving his finger in my face during his tirade. Sometimes I'm not a tolerant man and my wife asks me to leave. He starts yelling and screaming at my wife. I step up and stop his tirade towards my wife. The little man with the dark hair tells us to leave, and we do. My first job was working at a restaurant, I understand the stressors between the wait staff and the kitchen, I've been there before. The little man with the dark hair and his confused waitress were completely out of line. The prices are fair, the food good, but the service is absolutely unforgivable. We found a nice little place to have breakfast in Fountain City. Its a little bit of a drive but the service was outstanding and the food is great. Unfortunately the waitress at Lumpys will never know how well I tip. As I said, I've done this before and I understand the stressors and pay very well for...
Read moreI come to this small town about a half dozen times a year for work. The place I usually have gone to was closed(they are closed Monday and tuesday) so I had to find a new place. I found Lumpys and decided to give it a chance. The first thing I noticed was that they serve a full breakfast till 2pm. So I ordered B&G, 2 scrambled eggs, and sausage patties. The only issue was how long it took. Not super long, but a bit long. However, their menu states they are a bit slow, so they make sure it's right. It was. Hot food, eggs very fluffy and light and chunks of sausage in the gravy big enough to be its own bite. The biscuits were very soft and flaky. GREAT hometown food from a great hometown place. GREAT friendly staff also. I...

A small town restaurant/diner filled with regulars and a sprinkling of us out-of-towners.
The waitstaff was zipping around keeping everone's cups filled, taking & delivering orders. Tables were bussed within seconds of being vacated.
My server, Kristin went to battle for me to grab me the last homemeade cinnamon roll.
My mini breakfast was exceptional. I had a perfectly cooked egg over easy, link sausage, and buttered sour dough toast.
The coffee was hot and as good as any diner coffee I've had.
Two thumbs up and I would definitely...
