I had trouble opening the door, because not only is it heavy, but there’s a big plastic sign to the left. If you come in with a walker (like I did), or with a wheelchair, you need a little space to get close enough to safely pull the door without hurting yourself.
A customer opened the door for me, and the cashier said he would go move the sign, but there isn’t a lot of room to move it and have it stay inside the overhang area out front. It was a right where it had been when I left.
Also, I ordered a pot of tea for one. The menu says that should be $4.50. It was $6. I pointed this out, and the cashier simply said “uh…that’s the only pot of tea we have.”
The cashier did bring my tea to me, which was kind. It would have been tough to carry the cup and the pot.
Then, as I was settling in, someone came in with a dog on a very loose leash. I am terrified of dogs, and the space between the counters and chairs is so small, that there really was nowhere to flee.
She just tied the dog to the chair, as he sniffed everything within the several feet of rope she gave him, and wandered the cafe to order and do other things.
That was when I left.
It’s one thing to be inn accessibile. Much of the world is. Friendliness can make up for much inaccessibility. But to overcharge, and then let dogs wander (the whole point of a service dog is to be with the owner, and most are clearly marked. This woman left the dog while she did all the things she wanted to do: order, pee, talk to people, etc). It really gives a bad rep when people who actually would benefit from a service animal get side eyes because those who don’t give a damn abuse having their pets in places that serve food and such.
It was just one bad experience after...
Read moreI love Jaho, especially the one in the city center (the staff there know what they're doing). But this location was so stupid because when I came in it took me 15 minutes to get my drink. The girl was taking forever with 3 customers and then I ordered online on their tablet, but then she took longer because she obviously didn't know what she was doing. And on top of that, when she did get around to making my drink, she messed it up and then purposely didn't want to make me another one. Avoid her at all costs. Since I was already in a rush and not going to get anywhere with her, I took a sip of the black sugar boba and it was not sweet and the boba was not tasting right at all. It wasn't chewy and it tasted kinda old. This place WASN'T crowded but the time taken, to the poor service, and the absolute dumb drink given with no customer service or apology, this location is trash. Student centers are generally trash since they can't work and are entitled because their life is so hard when they're just children. This girl and the place is full of them. Can't make a boba. I know teens who can make better boba than this. Avoid....

The house bean espresso is delicious. No signature espresso bean option. The oat milk steaming is terrible - big foam bubbles, no smooth milk thickness, just really thin milk below. Easily doable with some skill - even on a $150 machine. I wouldn't be happy serving that myself. Have a look at Broadsheet's to see how the same Oatly milk can be made. Excellent grinder and espresso machine! Great beans online but extremely low stock in store - no decaf in-store. Gorgeous atmosphere. Amazing variety of speciality drinks and flavours.
Fixing the milk steaming: The steam spout should be carefully just below the level of the milk, and make a soft, consistent, not loud, not eruptive psssssss sound while the milk spins in a vortex. Check a video on youtube. Fixable in about 30 minutes and a few tries.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend it for steamed drinks until the milk steaming is fixed. Otherwise it's one of the best in the area but well...
