SO I had one dish that was really good, and one that I literally didn't finish sent back and they refunded me for. Place is a bit dim in there for my taste as a lunch spot. Maybe if you went there for dinner, it would be a better vibe.
1 VEG BOWL (RICE WITH ONE VEG DISH OF THE DAY)ORGANIC MATAR w/ MUSHROOM (GF/NF) $13.98: Loved her. Yummy with mushrooms and peas, creamy, I would totally get this again. The rice was perfectly nice and fluffy, and I loved the little side of beet. Perfect combo. Verdict: EAT THIS.
1 CHICKEN BOWL (RICE WITH ONE CHICKEN DISH OF THE DAY) BUTTER CHICKEN $14.98: Why was this bitter? I thought maybe they scorched the pot, and I got the last of what was in the bottom, but it wasn't the normal burn taste. Also a weird crunch in my food that was not spice and I spit out that bite. I scrapped off the sauce and the chicken tasted good underneath. Then after doing this on my 3rd tiny piece of chicken, I thought how ridiculous this was so I went to the register to tell them and brought up my bowl/plate. The person who was initially super helpful was not there, it was some other dude who was instantly defensive and before I could finish my sentence stated that I did receive butter chicken. A. He did not dish my food out the guy in the hat did, as far as I am aware. B. Apparently women are not allowed to have complete thoughts in his presence? This makes me suspicious. As I am telling him the other original guy comes up and immediately gets management. I ask the boss/chef to taste it himself. He doesn't taste from my plate he tastes from the pot. It is not the same pot! Not the same color saturation or level as it was when it was dished out to me. WTH. I am pissed because someone is trying to pull a fast one, and I don't know who pulled a switch. The Boss/Chef apologizes and they pay me out in cash giving me less than I was supposed to get. I correct him, and he gives me a little bit more by a few cents, but I am so angry I don't realize this until later. I am pleased at the customer service though, that they did give me my money back for the bad dish.
They have a large menu and they have specials that change everyday. Chai and other drinks were also available for purchase. They also have water available for free in a mini bubbler.
Verdict: OKAY. This one was a huge point of confusion that started on a high of something yummy and ended really horribly. I had to drink to get the taste out...
Read moreTried this place with friends. It is extremely OVERPRICED with SMALL portions. $20-25 for a thali when you can go to an all you can eat Indian buffet in the area for less than that price ($12-15) that also use natural healthy ingredients. We couldn’t believe the prices. $10 for LASSI?!?!? When we asked for the chicken frankie which is about $15, the lady showed us the portion is the size of 2 small hands… seriously?
We were hungry so thought we would give it a try, however the food quantity is incredibly small (the bowl was only 1/4th full for $14) , food was not tasty, and we were left very hungry and had to go elsewhere after for good substantial food. They are trying to appeal with their “healthy ingredients”, however there are a lot of Indian cafes and restaurants that are using fresh real, healthy ingredients these days so there isn’t a difference that makes this place better. And those restaurants have lower prices and larger portion sizes.
I agree with the other reviews with the small portions and we know Indian food and authentic Indian food. I didn’t find the food to be that tasty either or authentic as they rave about. We felt as though we wasted money here. Other places you can get substantial tasty food with reasonable pricing and good...
Read moreAfter dining at hundreds of Indian restaurants in the US over the last two decades, I can confidently say this is the one of the very few that truly cares about the ingredients that go into your food. The quality here is unparalleled.
Pushpir, the visionary owner, is setting a new standard for Indian cuisine. The Indian food scene in the US is badly in need of a change, and Pushpir is leading the charge. Their commitment to using only the highest quality ingredients (organic milk to spices sourced from Mysore) is apparent, also evidenced by the lack of any bloating even after a big hearty meal - a common issue many of us can relate to after eating at most Indian restaurants.
Kudos to Pushpir’s passion for healthy, delectable food. We had the delicious thali and mouth watering Aloo ke Parantha but will be returning time and again to try everything...
