Comfort food option the neighborhood was missing.
Solid new local spot for comfort-style chicken meals. Something East and Mid-Cambridge has oddly been lacking. Sure, there’s Lily P’s, but that leans more toward upscale fast-casual. This place fills the gap with exactly what the neighborhood needed: affordable, hearty, no-frills fried/rotisserie chicken. Unsurprisingly, it’s really popular among the locals.
So far, I’ve tried the wings, fried chicken, and chicharron. The fried chicken was especially good—not overly seasoned, which I appreciate (a lot of local Italian sub spots tend to go heavy on the salt). Wings were juicy, tender, and hit that sweet spot between crispy and satisfying. Only miss for me was the chicharron. It was quite dry and honestly, a lot of the fried meat on display looked a bit overcooked or dried out.
It may not be the best fried chicken in the city, but it’s exactly the kind of place I’d return for a solid, no-fuss chicken meal. And with lunch combos under $12, it’s a great value option when you’re craving something hearty...
Read moreLet's begin with, no wheelchair access, the smoke alarm kept on beeping (change the batteries. No parking. Barely any sitting provided. Sodas are out of the box hot cause they didn't know how to utilize their space and place the fridge behind a column and had to remove the door to make it "work", so ask for ice. Not all items available are on the store menu which is probably what they might be good at cause all we had that day it's a PASS! Stewed chicken (pollo asado) the meat was dried (goes to show they don't know how to cook it or what they were cooking) the broth was watered down (caldo aguado), they have on the menu 1 pound of ribs for $15, to start with that's a no. I asked for that with fries and got 3 measley ribs and a bunch of soggy tasteless fries. None of the items were weighted. And still got charged $15. Not worth the trip. If you want that type of food I recommend making friends with a Puerto Rican who's mom or abuela is still around cause that is not the place for it. Clearly a cliche trap for those...
Read moreUsed to love this place, was happy to see ethnicity in the community. But this will be the last time I order food from Pollo 2 Go whether in the store or through delivery. This is now the 2nd time they have cancelled my delivery order. The order was placed online on time, but they waited 15-20 mins to then decide to cancel my order last minute. I also have gone inside the store to order, and the cashiers tend to be unfriendly and disengaging at the counter, wanting to get your order and get you out the way. the last order I purchased in the store, the chicken was dry. They have some really great items and a menu of selections that are reasonably priced, but they lack in customer service and need improvement in other areas. I hope they continue to improve and thrive in the community because we need more than what's offered in the...
