How many ways can I say terrible? Dreadful. Horrendous. Awful. Atrocious. The WORST hibachi meal I've eaten in my entire life (I'm 46 by the way). Went to this restaurant last night b/c it was my daughter's birthday. We have patronized most of the hibachi style restaurants in Columbia and wanted to try something different.
All of the positive reviews must for the sushi, because my experience was the opposite! First of all, when I was placing my order I was informed that they don't even have new york strip steak, only "sirloin". I've never been to a hibachi restaurant where the only steak option was low quality -- no New York strip, ribeye, etc.
When I received my food my steak was cooked VERY well done ( I ordered medium well). I may as well have pulled the sole off my cowboy boot and chewed on it - it would have been more tender than that steak. Needless to say, I didn't/couldn't eat it.
The shrimp was so small - barely a step above baby shrimp! And the rice had to be instant. I had 6 pieces of zucchini and 2 pieces of onion. When I pointed it out the waitress brought more vegetables. However, I noticed when I received the bill that I was charged an additional $5 for the zucchini and onions that should have come with the meal!
The Yum Yum sauce did not taste like that if similar restaurants, or even the store bought Yum Yum - had NO taste/flavor at all.
I don't know who the cook is, but I didn't see any Japanese persons on staff (that was my second red flag).
I've never been so disappointed with a restaurant visit before. I may as well have thrown $53 in the garbage. My daughter's experience was just as dissatisfying as mine. Even my grandson's lemonade was nasty! :/
I did bring my complaints to the cashier before paying and he said there wasn't much that he could do about it - only took $5 and some change off of my bill, still leaving a...
Read moreThis place is great! Such an odd mix of southern hospitality with Japanese food, but it totally works! They found a niche and they fill it well. It doesn't try to be high-end and it doesn't need to be because the food tastes great and for the price, there are no complaints. The servers really hustle! I mean they are moving getting food to tables, and taking care of customers all the while maintaining that friendly neighbor attitude
The all-you-can-eat soup seemed odd at first, but my kid went back 3 times and it seemed to be very popular!
For me, I love hibachi (Teppanyaki), but most places that service "hibachi", the food just tastes like Terriyaki, which to me is too sweet. This was very similar to the flavor you get at a Teppanyaki place.
Which I lived closer, but anytime we come to Camden in the future, this will be a stop.
OH PS... the parking STINKS LOL. Small parking lot and not many other places to park, but on the plus side, even a very full parking lot, we only had two groups in front of for the wait! So I guess...
Read moreWe have eaten here a lot over the past decade, but since the previous owners sold it, it isn't the same. I was refused service last night with my wife and daughter. It was 8:31, and they close at 9. We would have eaten our food and been paying by 9. But we were told that they stop seating customers at 8:30. Seriously? One minute earlier??? Horrible customer service. These photos are from a previous visit, as is the rest of this post.
Good food, and a very fair price. My family (3 of us) had steak or chicken dinners, all with zucchini, fried rice, mushrooms, and soup for $24. We can't eat at most fast food restaurants for that cheap. I highly recommend Ginza! We ate half of our dinners before I remembered to take pictures. The servings are very generous. Most people will have to get a to-go box.
Another update: prices have gone up, but that's expected. 3 of us ate our usual for $30, which is up by $2/plate. Service is fair, and they now have a sign on the door advising that they stop seating people 30 minutes...
