Stopped in around 7:45 to 8:00 p.m. on a Wednesday evening and was greeted and seated promptly. My server was on point from the start, taking my iced tea order and bringing the menu right away.
I ordered the ribeye cooked medium, with a side house salad (no onion or tomato) and the vegetable medley. The salad came out exactly as ordered, with their homemade ranch. It was a standard iceberg mix with two cucumber slices and a bit of shredded carrot—simple and fresh.
The ribeye was timed perfectly, arriving just after I finished the salad. It was cooked medium, had a decent thickness—about a half inch or more—and while marbling in restaurant steaks is harder to come by lately, this one had a little and was still juicy, flavorful, and well seasoned.
The vegetable medley was the usual frozen mix, but it was top shelf—cooked just right and not overdone like you often see. I sat in a high booth that was comfortable without being too soft. The building is a long, narrow historic brick space with a dark wood interior and a solid bar crowd, giving off a casual sports bar feel with a gritty upscale edge. Noise level was average—not too loud.
I parked on the street and walked a couple blocks, passing a charming old main street with historic architecture, including a bank building with huge columns that looks over 100 years old. It’s a nice little stretch of town.
Service was excellent—friendly and attentive. One standout touch: after I paid, my server offered a to-go cup for my iced tea, which I happily accepted. That small gesture left a...
Read moreThe service was actually pretty good for the most part the meals were good but I would have to say the two things I didn't like at all I saw two waiters running there fingers thir there hair then go serve other people to me that was very inappropriate when they did not even wash their hands after running their fingers through their hair it's like they gave more care about their hair then what they did about the safety and WellCare of anyone in the establishment that they happen to be serving I have worked in quite a few high-end restaurants and bars in my time and then the restaurant bar service you're talked to wash your hands thoroughly no matter how clean you Maybe I cannot say that I would or would not recommend this bar to anyone I would have to say use your own discretion I believe the young ladies that I have talked to in there were nice and polite very sweet young ladies the young man I really didn't talk much with except for one of the ones that run his fingers through his hair because he tried to grab our food to throw it away and I had to make him stop messing with our food I surely did not want his hands anywhere near my food but he has not washed his hands after running his fingers through his hair I just hope that this may be dealt with within the near future with the whole staff I don't know how many other folks besides the two young men do this kind of behavior I think that is it...
Read moreNow, this review has nothing to do with the quality of food at this restaurant. I have eaten here for years, and the food is always top-notch and service superb.
This review is for the lack of preparation, knowledge, and ability to handle food related allergies.
We had our company Christmas party here today. My daughter under two has a mild dairy allergy and a severe allergy to eggs and peanuts. My business partner, being the excellent friend and man he is, brought a list made by me with questions to the resteraunt during the week.
He spoke with an employee there who answered questions and was only not able to answer one: the ingredients in the bread. We were made to feel like there would be few items that could not be eaten, the fried foods.
There is always risk, and you have to ask questions. Afternoon of the dinner, the only thing that could safely be eaten was the vegetable medley. Also, the manager in the kitchen could not even give me the ingredients used in the breads.
This is a huge example of poor food safety training and regulations. Even if the breads come from a local bakery, you have to knowt he ingredients before you serve it in the food industry. I DO NOT KNOW, is a...
