This is a fantastic Waffle House! Service is good and the restaurant is clean. My wife and I eat there a lot. We especially like the manager because she has her employees WORKING at all times., That’s why this restaurant is clean and awesome. I tell you, she reminds me of a Drill Sergeant! But a Drill Sergeant with a heart. Which reminds me. I just read a review on here about a man that didn’t get his meal on Veterans Day for free like he was supposed to. The review went on to say that the manager asked him for his ID, and the customer said he didn’t have one that proved he was in the military. I myself being a veteran , always have my VA card with me. I also have a drivers license with veteran on it, which ALL real vets can get for free, added to the license. Or if you know you are going to get a free meal if you are a veteran, don’t u think you need to have some proof with you when you go to that restaurant and not just a hat on your head? Like the manager said, anyone can go to Walmart and buy a hat that says Navy or whatever. Take your DD-214 to the Drivers License office and they will add it free of charge. So, in closing I will say, kudos to the manager for asking for ID. Waffle House does not give free meals on Veterans Day. The manager, out of the goodness of her heart, was paying for vets meals the whole day OUT OF HER OWN POCKET! She asks for ID because she has kids in the military and knows about Stolen Valor. Stolen Valor is someone pretending to be in the military to get discounts or free stuff, when really, they never served at all. The easiest way to fool people is by wearing a military hat on your head. Most people don’t ask for ID when you wear this, so if you do it, shame on you.Trust me, my wife and I see it all the time, since we own a military clothing retail store. So.. writing a bad review of this place because dad didn’t have proof he served is just irresponsible and crappy. This place rules. Food is great and fast. I will drive out of my way to go to this particular Waffle House. Matter of fact, if I owned a restaurant I would hire this manager and pay her double of what she makes to run it.,She keeps them employees in line! You won’t see waitress’s texting on the clock here. It’s refreshing to me. I would like to say thanks to this manager and wish you continued success in the future. Look forward to going...
Read moreHere's the thing: this is a Waffle House. If you're unfamiliar with Waffle House, I recommend checking out their website. The basics are that they are open 24 hours a day, frequently near interstate exits, and they're a basic grill station type restaurant. Your typical steak, eggs, hash browns, etc.
With all of that said, this particular location has great staff, the restaurant was clean, and the conversation enjoyable. The food isn't our typical fare, as we try to eat healthy, pretty much the opposite of a plate of bacon. However, from time to time, you just want something simple, like a t-bone and eggs, and on those days, this is the Waffle House I choose. Again, not our typical food choice (we even bring our own real maple syrup when visiting), but if it were, it would be easy to be a regular here. The staff is just plain friendly, at least during the times of day we've been there. This just isn't the restaurant where you might drunkenly have to cook your own meal because the staff is asleep. That just wouldn't happen here. The staff here are responsible, and easy to interact with.
It's a Waffle House. With that understanding in mind (I think they'd question my sanity if I showed up in a suit and tie), in the category of 24 hour grill restaurants, this one particular location earns five stars. Clean and friendly.
Is it comparable to the Grove Park Inn over in Asheville? Of course not. But this Waffle House is in the best of its class, and if you're driving by hungry on I-40, live in Canton, or really need a bite a 3am, then you...
Read moreMy husband and I eat at Waffle Houses every time we go South (we travel to Florida frequently). We have always had a great food and great service...BUT sadly today was not only the worst service we have ever had it was the worst atmosphere. We have enjoyed the "family " welcome you only get from a place like Waffle Houses across the South but not at this Waffle house!! The staff didn't even acknowledge you when you walked in the door...the entire time standing and waiting for a table the waitresses were standing gossiping rather then clean a table so we could sit. We learned more about the one waitresses family turning each other in to child protective services as she spewed that gossip to another customer sitting at the counter. She was also told by what we believe was the manager to put her mask back up as she kept lowering as she was talking to this customer about child protection services. Sadly, the other waitress (Julia I believe) was told twice to clean a table for us to sit by again who we believed was the manager but because she wasn't finished gossiping she said I will in minute...continued to BS with the other waitress (there was only the 2 waitresses) so the manager went over and started to clean the table apologizing to us....you would be better of to close this location then to have it ruin your...
