I have literally spent over $1,000 at La Bella Pizza in the past year alone. Far, far more than that since first becoming a customer, way back when we would select a movie from Blockbuster and walk next door for a pizza at the Hillside location. Those were the good days. We were such frequent customers, the manager at the time treated us to "Oregano Pie," made with fresh oregano he had brought back from his home country (I think it was Lebanon), where he had just returned from a visit. It really was a treat, eaten with nothing more than fresh sliced tomato. But I digress...
A few years ago we moved to the N side of Canyon and were delighted to know we had a local La Bella. We normally do pick up, but not long ago we tried delivery, and they forgot part of our order. Ok, annoying but it happens. We called but were on hold forever, so I just drove into town to get the missing item. Super annoying because we paid a delivery fee (and generous tip), and waited way longer for delivery, just to have to pick it up anyway. It is what it is...move on and lesson learned. We went back to ordering pick up.
Friday night we worked late and didn’t want to get out, so we decided to give delivery another shot. Big mistake. The estimate was 40 minutes but it took an hour and a half, the pizza was barely warm, and they shorted us the four extra icing cups we had requested (and paid for). I wasn’t about to have someone make a special trip to deliver $2 worth of icing, so mentally we just wrote it off.
The next day we went into Ace Hardware and drove right past La Bella, so I thought what the heck. We'll go ahead and grab the icing they shorted us. The manager flat-out refused. She said we should have called last night. I’m honestly appalled a manager would take that stance. It's $2. I couldn't care less about the money. But the principle? That matters a lot to me. I told them we won’t be back,...
Read moreThese guys are HORRIBLE! The delivery guy was friendly and ontime, but it all went downhill from there.
The pizza was a soggy mess without any hint of care or seasoning. Just tomato sauce straight from the can. Barely warm even though I live six blocks from the place.
The 10 wings (for $5) were the smallest I have ever seen. They must have come from hummingbirds. They were fried, cold, and came with no sauce. They have NO concept of what a Greek salad is. I got iceberg with a few bad tomatoes, and, of all things, pickled canned beets. Yuck! No feta cheese or kalamata olives, just a few soggy canned generic olive slices. The salad was supposed to come with fries, which were left out of the order.
One does not expect great cuisine in a small rural college town place catering to students, but this one is for scholars with dead taste buds. I also called the manager who was completely indifferent to my concerns about the lack of quality. Never again!
BTW, This is review is for LA BELLA. There is another place in town called EPIC which uses LA BELLA's old phone number (bad idea!) but anyway this review is not about them.
I tried then again FOUR YEARS LATER. If anything they were worse. The pizza was a soggy doughy undercooked mess. The toppings were wretched. Gyro entree and greek salad were equally bad. I'm swearing this place off for life. The other reviews must have been written by their...
Read moreLa Bella Pizza is honestly a bit of a grab-bag.
When they get it right, man do they get it right. They serve delicious food that far outpaces the competitors in the area like Pizza Hut and Dominos, they have wonderful customer service for easily the best prices you could ask for!
Unfortunately, that only seems to apply half of the time.
For every wonderful experience I've had with La Bella, I've had horrible ones as well, from phone operators haranguing me from ordering too often, to under cooked, misprepared food that doesn't even match the order I made.
I swear, in my last order, I think the sauce was actually spoiled, and that was after I had to wait an additional thirty minutes to receive a part of my order that they just outright forgot to make!
So really, it's a gamble. The food can be amazing when they actually get it right, but every time you order you run the risk of miscommunitication, poor preparation, and lack of quality control. It's up to you whether or not you think it's worth...
