Oh, My, God! I LOVE THIS PLACE. I moved to canyon 2 years ago, before that I lived in Miami Florida. Now in my 40 years I've worked in over 200 restaurants throughout South Florida and before that almost every restaurant in Amarillo and Canyon and before that my father owned a restaurant here in canyon. Now turns out canyon has a well-kept secret. It's this little place right off the main road. Called The Ranch House Cafe. Now, not just all the restaurants that I've been through, but all the restaurants I didn't work at my friends did some naturally I got to know their kitchens as well. So believe me it is an understatement when I say, I have never in my 40 years seen a kitchen as clean, and meticulous as The Ranch House Cafe. I was not just impressed. I was floored. I could not believe the clarity of the oil in the fryer. The shine of the stainless steel. I thought surely this was a new restaurant, or that they had just updated their kitchen. Everything looked almost new. I took time to speak with the owner. Come to find out the level of care, consideration and extra steps this woman in her staff take to give the customer a heart healthy all around "good for you" meal. I asked her because this is nowhere in her advertising nor is it posted anywhere. As a matter of fact The ranch House Cafe does little to no advertising at all. Also surprising they have little to no social media presence. I could only assume that with all the time and effort that these people put into our food. That there's no time left at the end of the day. The owner talked about how the ranch house has been there for over 30 years, and doesn't need to advertise. Because the food speaks for itself. She joked, "even if you can always get it fast, you get what you want, while getting what you need." I absolutely...
Read moreCanyon isnt known for its bustling and nice restaurants but this place needs to wise up and update. There arent too many other restaurants to choose from, which is also ridiculous. But, we have been here 4 times for breakfast only. This last time was just enough to convince us to forget this place all together. We had been before and service was "ok" its like yeah, the waitresses are "sweet" and "nice" but c'mon. You're not 12. Before this last time it took the kitchen 40+ minutes to get our food out. We didnt order any meats with our breakfast... eggs...pancakes and biscuits. And it took 40+ minutes. The waitress didnt once tell us what the hold up was or apologize. She told us the kitchen was understaffed. Gee, thanks. We have a one year old who doesnt care if the kitchen is understaffed or not. Its like.... common sense!?!? And where the hell is the manager. Nor did our "sweet" waitress comp ANYTHING for our ridiculous wait. This last time I ordered a BLT. The sad sandwich came to me with soggy, old, brown lettuce. Inexcusable, really. I asked the waitress to take it back. No sincere apology of course. So the sandwich comes back, same plate, same bread with the old lettuce on it with new lettuce stacked on top. Hey newsflash manager of this place: fire your entire kitchen staff, shut the place down and update the decor because it looks like a trailor and while you're at it... just call Chef Robert Irvine to get Restaurant Impossible to fix everything. Sorry these Canyon natives dont know any different of what good food is.... and you've been allowed to serve them crap food along with mediocre service. But no matter where you are or who you employ or who you...

However we will not be going back after years of going multiple times a week. It complicated, but I’ll keep it simple. Food took 1.5 hours to come out AFTER our order was placed. The waitress never fully got our drink order right. One of our people at the table left for work before they could eat (waited 1 hour after ordering). Constantly reminded her of our drinks, she would say “oh I’m sorry I’ll be right back” but never did. Then all of our meals came out at different times. At least the food was warm and tasted good. To top it off our receipts were wrong and some of the meals with the tables next to us got mixed up on our receipts. We just paid for the other people’s and they paid for ours. We didn’t want to wait another 30 minutes for her to fix them.
Please train your waitresses to check in with the table and have enough staff so we don’t have to wait 1.5 hours after we...
