Hands down best seafood experience I've had. It isn't even a contest. We had the chilled seafood sampler, lobster bisque, New England clam chowder, crabcakes with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, and pan seared flounder over a bed of risotto, I think? (It was my wife's entree so forgive me if I can't remember for sure. Also these come with fresh bread and butter. And everything except our wine was made in-house.
The chilled sampler had three different and delicious types of oysters with huge shrimp and a king crab louie. Fresh, flavorful, and with a cocktail sauce that would knock your socks off and a cumin herb vinaigrette.
Since we got entrees, we also got the bread early on. It was hot, perfectly baked, and the house butter was exceptional. They actually told us it is a pizza dough rolled into a twisted cord ( 🤯 ) with poppy seeds on it.
Mt wife had the chowder and I the bisque but we of course shared and, no exaggeration, they were the best takes on these soups I've ever tasted and had flavors that were unexpected but worked so absolutely well. I don't exactly frequent Michelin star restaurants so I don't have a frame of reference but even the highest end places I've been to haven't made anything like this.
Before the entree they bring out their coleslaw. This stuff actually uses Bleu cheese and has a vinaigrette base and should be the gold standard for slaw. I usually shy away from the stuff because it's usually a cold unappetizing mess of damp cabbage and runny sauce. This was none of that. Perfectly crisp, amazing flavor. Just wow.
Entrees, finally, had me floored on their quality. I'm also not an asparagus person but that's because it's always done wrong. These were steamed to perfection with a great snap and freshly steamed inside. The crabcakes are absolutely chock full of crab and melt in your mouth. No grittiness, no filler. Just perfection. The ONLY thing that disappointed me was the garlic mashed potatoes. But some extra sauce from the crabcakes and they still tasted great. They just weren't to the standard of everything else.
My wife's pan seared flounder was also melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The most tender, juicy flounder I've tasted and with a crispy seared base that just added a perfect amount of crunch. And the bed of risotto was really tasty and paired up with the flounder well. This was a special just for that night, but chef, if you're reading this, it needs to be a mainstay.
Finally, absolutely perfecting the whole night was Erin, our waitress. She was knowledgeable, informative, attentive, engaging. Pretty much took a transcendent culinary experience and put it over the top for us. She knows her stuff and deserves the utmost praise for her service level.
We are already planning on taking another weekend in Fort Myers JUST to dine here again. For the casual diner it wasn't the cheapest meal but rivaled powerhouses in my area (Broward/Miami-Dade) that will cost you a few times more than Blue Pointe and for lesser quality. Highly recommend, strongly suggest a nice bottle of dry white wine for the table to make it...
Read moreWe were looking forward to a great dinner but unfortunately it was the total opposite. The restaurant is beautiful but the overall experience was not. To begin we ordered a dozen and a half oysters that took nearly 20 minutes to come, along with the crab stuffed avocado which was delicious. The oysters themselves were good, however, the horseradish was not only not fresh, but it was old and definitely from a jar. I wish we had known that before we put it on every oyster which made them all have a bitter metal taste. You would hope that a restaurant that serves oysters (and is named oyster) would use fresh horseradish. It only makes sense, right?
The waitress came by ONCE to tell us that our food would “be out shortly” and 40 minutes later our dinner arrived. It was late and we were frustrated and wanted to just cancel the order and go get food elsewhere, however we didn’t see her at all until she was bringing out the food. Late food is obviously not her fault but it would have been decent for her to acknowledge it, or have someone else like a manager come and acknowledge it. Another strange event that happened was it looked like the manager was going to each table to ask how people were doing and she went to every table EXCEPT ours. Very weird.
I ordered the lemon caper fish and 2 thin small pieces of overly-fried fish were served on a mountain of burnt brussels sprouts with a small ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes. My husband ordered scallops which he thought were delicious but again, got 4 medium sized scallops and a tiny scoop of potatoes and was still hungry after he ate. My dad ordered surf and turf, medium, and though it was a good cut of meat, the meat was raw and had a cold center. He also specifically asked if they used drawn butter or oil, which would have determined if he wanted the lobster or not. The waitress assured him it was drawn butter, and surprise surprise- it was OIL. my dad had to use the butter from the bread bowl on his lobster which is total BS considering the high price tag.
Our bill was $200 not including the tip and 100% not worth the frustration, food or experience. We will most definitely not be...
Read moreFirst time customer but will be back for sure!! We had tickets for the Nutcracker at Barbara B Mann tonight so we stopped in to eat before the performance but as we were walking a-crossed the parking lot my shoe broke. Now annoyed we decided on getting a drink and an appetizer then leaving to deal with the broken shoe. We sat down and I was so irritated I honestly don’t remember If the waitress told us her name or not but we ordered some drinks along with shrimp cocktail and Brussel sprout appetizers. Once they came out we asked for the check because I wanted to leave quickly to deal with my broken shoe. Well all I can say is OMG the Brussel sprouts were out of this world amazingly good and when the waitress came back with the check I told her how impressed I was with them and she proceeded to tell us about the crab cakes, sea bass and blue cheese coleslaw that were some of her favorites. She was so friendly and understanding of my shoe disaster. Well needless to say we ended up telling her we were sorry we asked for the check because we were going to have another drink and try the crab cakes and coleslaw and share it. She was again very accommodating. She brought us our drinks and then brought out the coleslaw for us on two plates so we could each have some and again brought the crab cakes out split on two plates. Well the food was out of this world but the service was by far the absolute best I’ve had anywhere in many years!!!! So impressed with the food and service that I said I have to leave a review and I never ever to even if it’s horrible - but As we were getting ready to leave I asked her name because I wanted to make sure that she got the credit!! So THANK YOU Brooke for changing my mind about dinner and the exceptional service you provided us!! You truly saved my night, I was so impressed with you and the food I absolutely didn’t care about my stupid shoe anymore, all the frustration I had walking in was completely gone!! This truly was the best place I’ve eaten and the best service by far!!!! And I knowledge it with my very first review ever!! ...
