We have been customers of Robb & Stucky since we began building our new home and, now that we're in and getting settled, love visiting their stores not only for inspiration but also to purchase unique furnishings and accessories that make a statement. We have made purchases from both the Naples and Fort Myers locations and have been very pleased with the quality we have come to expect from Robb & Stucky. Unfortunately, it has become apparent to us that unless we are making larger purchases or using professional design services at the Fort Myers store we do not merit the same level of customer service we receive from the Naples location. When we step into the Fort Myers store the only person who seems enthusiastic about seeing us is the lovely lady who provides the warm welcome when potential customers come through the lobby. Beyond that, we feel as if we are an unwelcome inconvenience when reaching out to inquire about items paid for but not ready for delivery or (in the instance we purchase artwork or accessories directly from the store) pickup. I do not enjoy feeling like an inconvenience so, due to an apparent miscommunication regarding our one remaining purchase yet to be delivered or picked up, I called and spoke directly to Crystal from the R&S warehouse who - as always - is such a pleasure to deal with.
A word to the wise when it comes to sales: one should never judge a book by its cover. I have noticed when I'm dressed for brunch and carrying an expensive handbag most salespeople will greet me warmly. If I'm dressed for the beach, well, you likely understand where I'm going with this. In every instance I'm gracious and articulate....I only expect the same grace in return.
With regard to the outlet behind the store....there are some wonderful bargains to be found. But the small room with clearance accessories and the cashier? Not impressed. No hello, no "may I help you find anything?" When we visited the store the previous weekend, I walked back there and gave the gentleman behind the register a warm hello and he barely grunted. Maybe he felt I couldn't speak fluent English beyond my warm hello or perhaps he was having a bad day; needless to say, I didn't feel welcome and hightailed it out of there. We had already made our purchases in the main showroom; I just thought it would be fun to see if there were any accessories marked down. Never again.
We were prepared to schedule a design consultation for window treatments for our lake home as well as search for the perfect dining set but after our most recent experience with the FM store we will no longer shop there and instead give our business to the Naples location even though it's a slightly longer drive for us. At the very least we feel assured we're...
Read moreOn January 13, 2021, my wife, Brenda, and I contracted for the purchase of a lakeside lot and the construction of a single family in the Treviso Bay community, in Naples, Florida. The home has 4,543 SF under air, excluding a 944 SF of air conditioned Garage. Additional space to be furnished was in the Lanai/Outdoor Kitchen and the Pool Deck. Brenda decided that we needed all new furniture; that not a single item in our town house we had owned for a number of years would be acceptable for our new home. Of course, my arguments completely fell on deaf ears. So, we started touring furniture stores in the area. I suggested we drive up to the Robb and Stucky store in Fort Meyers; this is the store that has “Clearance Center”. We we went in the main store entrance, we were greeted by Annette Ulrich. Annette’s approach to us was what I would characterize as a “Soft Sell”. She offered to develop a furnishing plan for the entire home and this was music to Brenda’s ears. The plans Annette and her team developed for our home were way beyond what we could have produced by ourselves. We were thrilled with the vision, so we proceeded to commit to purchasing pretty much all of the home furnishings. This was in anticipation our builder meeting their contractual “outside deliver date” of July, 28 2022. Unfortunately, our builder slow walked our construction, such that we ultimately obtained our Occupancy Permit on December 18, 2023 Fortunately, Robb and Stucky agreed to store our furniture, at no cost to us, until it could be delivered. We certainly appreciated this accommodation! The end result of this protracted process is that we have a home which meets or exceeded our highest hopes and anticipations. The wallpapers, drapes and art works are just the icing on the cake. Parenthetically, we did not purchase a single item from the Robb and Stucky Clearance Center. So much for my plan! By the way, there are still no items from our Town Home in...
Read moreBuyer beware. This store seemingly has difficulty honoring discount sales vouchers in which they often promote to obviously attract clients back into their showroom.
Unfortunately, todays encounter was not the first time my wife and I purchased several furnishings from this location only to find them adamantly contesting and ultimately refuting their not so “special offer” provided to repeat clients and eligible email recipients advertising 25% off towards the purchase of any accessories.
Immediately upon notifying our sales associate that we received the discount certificate we were quickly advised that it only pertained to in-store accessories and did not apply to clearance merchandise and could not be combined with any other promotions or already marked down items. We were further instructed that the coupon was only valid for one accessory and they only accept printed copies of the received advertisement although it clearly stated to simply “show this email in-store at checkout”. After they somewhat reluctantly conceded to acknowledge their own policy, they later informed us in the parking lot well after the sale that we were not actually eligible to redeem the rendered discount and instructed to return back inside the store to pay the full purchase price for the one and only discounted accessory because according to the store manager the sale apparently only applies once in a lifetime per household, and furthermore only intended for new customers. Albeit never mentioned, nor anywhere written for anyone to whatsoever realize or clearly understand.
We are deeply dismayed and saddened that today’s experience morally forbids us to further patronize this establishment, and unfortunately prohibits us from recommending any such retailers that choose to do business and treat their once loyal customers in...
