The Capital Gill Bell Tower 1-29-25 Before I get started let me sum up this review in 3 words. AMAZING for the atmosphere, FANTASTIC for the service, DELICIOUS for the food. We made reservations for our Anniversary on their web site for Wednesday at 5:15pm which was very easy. We arrived on time and got seated right away. This place was amazing as all tables had a tablecloth and were very neatly organized with plates and flat wear. You could see the spotless Kitchen area though a large class. They had a large wine room with rotating racks of wine to drink. The front part of the restaurant had a huge bar area for socializing. Our table even had an Anniversary Card and Red Rose Pedals placed on the table before we sat down, nice touch. Our waiter Matt came over immediately and introduced himself and gave us a food menu that had cocktails on the back side. We ordered Noble Paloma Cocktail, and I ordered a beer. Matt delivered our drinks and explained the menu. Let me tell you this guy knew that menu inside and out, he answered all our questions and gave us some Chefs specials that were not even on the menu. We ordered a Shrimp Cocktail and the Clam Chowder for appetizers. My wife ordered the Filet Mignon Oscar which is Filet Mignon topped with Crab Meat on a Asparagus bed. I ordered the 22oz Boned in Ribeye. We ordered a side of Sam’s Mashed Potatoes. One thing about the any of the sides they are served at your table in one bowl which is enough for 2 to 3 people. While we were enjoying our drinks our Shrimp Cocktail was delivered on a bed of ice with lemon and Cocktail sauce. These Shrimp were huge and cold and very good. Our Clam Chowder was out next and without a doubt the best Clam Chowder we ever had. Shortly afterwards they brought out our main courses. The Filet Mignon Oscar looked amazing and tasted even better. The cook on it was perfect. There was plenty of Crab meat on the top and the sauce kicked it up to another level. This plate was true perfection. My Boned in Ribeye also looked amazing was done perfect. It was so tender I believe you could have cut it with a butter knife. I absolutely loved this dish. The Mashed Potatoes had skins in them and just superb. Once done they brought out Champagne for us to celibate our Anniversary. As we were drinking or Champagne, they brought out a Crème Brulee to top off the evening of our Anniversary. I can not tell you how impressed I was with this place. From Matt, Trey and Stacy and all the others that were involved in our fantastic experience and big THANK YOU. I will say everyone needs to try this place its upscale, but worth every penny, you will not be sorry. If I could give this place 6 stars I would but I can only give out 5 stars. The 5 are for Atmosphere, Service, Quality, of the food. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Follow Me On FB For More...
Read moreMY REVIEW FROM LAST NIGHT: Wow! What a difference a year makes. My wife and I went back to the Capital Grille in Fort Myers to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It could not have been a better experience. We were given a nice booth in the corner away from the noise but still able to people watch. Our server was named India and she was an A++. Dinner was spectacular! Food was great, atmosphere terrific, and service was top notch. In the past year they have certainly gotten their act together. A special thank you to Seth Kooistra - the location Managing Partner. I year ago when I wrote to him about our experience, he responded immediately and invited us to come back to try them again. Last night he stopped by our table twice and was so nice.
The Capital Grille is unique in the restaurant market. Their food is the best. While expensive, I actually consider it a good value given the quality. India (our server) epitomized perfect service. We couldn't have enjoyed our anniversary dinner more.
Thank you Seth, India, and the whole crew for a great evening!
MY REVIEW FROM A YEAR AGO:
I have eaten at Capital Grille restaurants all over the country. I have had more than 100 meals at different Capital Grilles. The Fort Myers location is not quite ready for prime time. The service was slow and inconsistent (and the restaurant was half empty). My filet mignon was way over salted. 4 different managers walked by our table but not one ever stopped to ask how our meal was. Ironically we were celebrating an anniversary and the table was decorated in recognition of that. The fact that no manager ever stopped by was unforgivable. The waiter was not well trained (worst service I've ever had in 100 visits to different Capital Grille restaurants). Clearly they are still learning. Sad that they never asked how things were going. I always think of them in the same realm as The Ritz Carlton or the Four Seasons. The Fort Myers location is more like Chik-fil-A at this point. I hope they get better. I expect more given what...
Read moreHad dinner here tonight to celebrate 2 birthdays. Firstly, the atmosphere is nice & intimate. Perfect atmosphere for special occasions. Had the pleasure of being taken care of by Zach. Zach knew the menu inside & out, was extremely tentative, and had great recommendations. His server assistant (also a Zach) stopped by several times to make sure my party and I were enjoying everything. We started with the Korean BBQ bacon appetizer which was very tasty. For entrees we had the Dry aged NY strip with Courvoisier sauce which was cooked to a perfect medium temp. Very tender & tasty. The other entree was the seared tenderloin with lobster tails. Not as happy with this dish. I ordered my steak medium and it was served to me rare. Disappointing for paying $70 for an 8oz steak. Furthermore it’s named “seared tenderloin with poached lobster tails”.. I only received one lobster tail, nothing more. Why is the lobster plural on the menu if it’s only served with one lobster tail? If they do it by weight, than it should say “seared tenderloin with 4oz of lobster tail”. (Not plural). You can clearly see the steak isn’t cooked to medium temp, & that I only received one piece of lobster in the pictures provided. In addition to that, paying as much as I did for steaks tonight, they should at least be served with a side dish. No side dishes included, all a la carte. We ordered the Au Gratin potatoes. Once again we were disappointed. The potatoes had a VERY overwhelming onion flavor to them. Completely killed the flavor of the dish as onions are all you can taste in it. The other side we ordered was the creamed corn with bacon. This side was much better and we highly recommend the corn. They did provide 2 complimentary birthday desserts which were also very tasty (& a nice surprise) Overall it was a decent dinner, however everything is definitely priced higher than it should be. In my opinion, there are other restaurants/steakhouses in the area that have similar atmospheres & better food for a...
