We had a couple of hours to kill before our reservation at the Mad Hatter for dinner (Separate review with a whole different number of stars!) and decided a nice cp of coffee would be good. Since it was 3:30 PM, decaf was in order, but they told me they quit serving decaf at around noon. So... hmmm... they sell caffeinated coffee in the afternoons and I asked if they didn't see a problem with not offering decaf after lunch. Of course they did not see a problem. Very few people order decaf so they would end up throwing away a pot of it every half hour.... so... no decaf.
But wait. What if when someone came in and ordered decaf, they were told very cheerfully, that the staff would be happy to make a fresh pot (even a half pot) for them and it would be ready in a few minutes. Think about that. During those couple of minutes of wait time the customer would have the opportunity to look at food items for sale, as well as other merchandise in the store, and might potentially BUY something else as well! And the cost of making that pot would probably be very low compared to the $6 to $8 sale of a couple of cups of decaf and when the customers leave, happy with Starbucks, the staff could throw the rest of that pot away in a half hour. Then, if in a couple of hours, someone would come in looking for decaf again, well... they could make another half pot and increase their revenue for the day!
But I guess it is easier to just assume that customers will not care... after all... you are STARBUCKS!!! and I will never go back to this particular place. Management pretty well has their head up where the sun...
Read moreI don’t frequent this location as it’s all the way out on Captiva Island, but when I’m out that way I make it a point to stop. Although it’s a Starbucks, it has a smaller coffee shop feel. They did a complete remodel last year that made it look more like your stereotypical Starbucks interior, but it’s still cozy. When you go in there it feels like you’re on vacation. The baristas are very sweet and always make the drinks quickly, even during a morning rush. I look forward to returning on my next island getaway.
Side note: They have switched to cardboard straws which I don’t personally care for (don’t judge me) but they sell the reusable straws for only a dollar which I think is very reasonable. I bought one and then used it during my stay...
Read moreThis store is now an actual Starbucks! Big improvement over the last decade of being a resort owned Starbucks and limited selection to cut down competition with other resort venues.
Newly added large patio, great outdoor seating area. If they could just get rid of the gas powered golf carts.
Literally being this close to the beach, it is cooler here.
We have stopped patronizing Starbucks at home but this location has been a family mainstay for way too long.
Now with the upgraded, we will...
