Common Grounds Coffee House — Restaurant in Carbondale

According to Google, 2 stars = "didn't like it" which is exactly the feedback I would provide. Further context; there may be too much emphasis on the sweet drink concoctions and less barista awareness for good espresso. I ordered a Cortado, which is a basic espresso option. The only substitute I made was to use one of the non-dairy milk options. (Which I was grateful for). However, the barista made this with "mocha" and said that's how its made there. Not only was it terrible in general, it didn't even taste like mocha. It tasted like a synthetic, imitation flavor of some sort with kind of an alcohol back flavor.... almost like imitation vanilla that had spoiled or something. The interior is really cute and there are basically no other local coffee shops in the area. However, the experience fell short. Coffee was good & barista who took our order was very friendly. My friend and I were passing through town & decided to give this place a try. We entered the shop wearing our masks, ordered wearing our masks and sat down to enjoy our coffee. My friend was in between sips of her coffee and the 2nd barista rudely approached her (much closer than 6 ft) instructing her that she must wear her mask while not eating or drinking. First of all, she was actively drinking her coffee that we purchased at your shop, secondly the barista invaded her space and treated us like an intruder & third... how creepy that she was watching us that closely while we drank our coffee. We were VERY socially distanced from anyone in the shop DRINKING our coffee. We were not planning on hanging out there, we just wanted to drink our coffee.

Wonderful place extremely friendly employees and a very very relaxing atmosphere one of the best places in Carbondale to get coffee and have a friendly face that treats you like a person instead of a number I would recommend this place to anyone who is coming in the Carbondale but enjoys just about any type of coffee that you can think of whether it be hot cold big warm different kinds of mixes a whole lot of different taste and once again a friendly friendly staff that treat you with respect and make sure that you have a way to get your items out and they do cater to handicapped people which is my situation they are not afraid to come from them behind the counter and open the doors so you can get out and get in excellent...
