I only gave it one star to write a review. But to whom ever owns the restaurant or is the manager of the Carbondale establishment is completely rude and unprofessional.
So this was the situation it ended up being a misunderstanding about the charge that was made to my card, unfortunately I had a friend swipe the payment for me, but I still wanted an understanding to why the extra amount was taken. I then called & spoke very calmly and politely to the manager, all for him to become very rude and defensive at the fact I questioned why 30$ was taken off my card for a 21$ purchase instead of saying it was a mishap or w/e INSTEAD; he then argued with me and told me it had to have been my bank. It was an automatic tip taken out plus somehow a surcharge. I NEVER consented to the tip they automatically take out if you donāt pay attention. Instead of calmly telling me a tip was taken he argued. He then said āweāre not Applebeeās or chiliāsā the customer isnāt always right you think Iād have any moneyā (even though those are very successful restaurant chains STATE WIDE). All he had to do was reimburse a tip I was unaware of instead he chose to ARGUE then put into the computer system to not take my order. Honestly I could careless but how can you call yourself operating a business with such unprofessionalism and personal emotions. Seriously I never was vulgar or overly upset about the money I just wanted an understanding of where my money went. And honestly the food isnāt as good as it could be possibly due to rude management who feels customers arenāt right, itās his ignorance and sarcasm that is just overly awfully classless; To say the least!
The TIP was never an issue I waitress I LOVE TIPPING its my Life line. Only issue was when he told me I was REQUIRED to tip; being I waitress I personally know all service provided may not be good enough to tip. He requires his workers to cook and deliver. Which was a personal issue I shouldnāt have been told I was basically required to pay his employees wages w/tips. Lol š but thatās not important. NO ONE ON MY END WAS EVER RUDE, thatās why when I called prior when they MESSED UP MY ORDER I was refunded etc. if I was ever rude im sure he wouldnāt have stayed on the phone call for atleast 20min to literally ARGUE and speak harshly as a person. But I never had a first order to begin with to ever speak rudely to anyone. Iām pretty sure he was offended from me mentioning the Chinese worker was the one who messed up the order he then gave back to me on the house prior, he was also very rude and vulgar with tone and choice of words then BUT I THEN was apologized to and order replaced, excluding tax. I donāt think people do this for rude people ijs. But I will be seeking legal options for what youāve done, not that I care but right is right and wrong is wrong donāt misuse your authority as a business because you had a simple disagreement on a situation with a CUSTOMER ... to clear up the factual part he has this whole phone call recorded so Iāll gladly allow my attorney to be able to actually see who was confrontational or rude in the situation. Thank you š I hope your business expands from just Carbondale one day. Thatās what the real businesses with great quality and personable people end up doing. JS but Iām sure if you ask the other girl that works there often who happens to be African American Iāve never been rude to her in any situation and when I come I always greet with a smile. Iāve worked in food businesses with VERY successful people and have NEVER experienced this treatment in my history of life. Understand folks I am appalled by the amount of lies in the owners statement itās almost brought me to tears. Iāll pray for him,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEVERY single food establishment I have ever been to, when you order TO-GO there is always plastic silverware included in the bag for orders that REQUIRE utensils to eat with. This was my first time ever going to New Kahala, as we are new to Illinois. Placed an order to go, to eat on a picnic with my family. Picked up the order, was asked if I would like sauce. Never asked if I needed silverware, or made aware that their to-go orders don't include silverware. I make it all the way to my destination to find that I have nothing to eat my food with. Called the store to let them know the situation and that I want to return the untouched food, since it is now cold, and I have to make a 20 minute trek all the way back to the restaurant. The person in charge I spoke to, was quite rude. And added that "most people order to-go to take it home". And that if I wanted silverware I should have gotten it myself from the restaurant while I was there. Had anyone made me aware that for some reason, silverware wasn't in the bag, I would have gladly grabbed some. Nobody said a word. Management is extremely unprofessional. BUT, I left there and went straight next door to Don Taco. Who had GREAT customer service and also included silverware in my to-go bag, without me even needing to ask. Who would've guessed? I will NOT go back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in for the first time on Sunday night with my husband and brother. My husband had been before many years ago and recommended we try it as he loved it then. The service was alright, they did have some computer/internet issues but it did not really affect us as we did not have an online order. The atmosphere was nice. The food however, was absolutely terrible. We all ate less than half of our food. They both had sweet and sour chicken, rice and hot and sour soup while I had the seasme chicken, rice and an egg roll. Thee chicken did not seem cooked enough (for both sweet and sour meals), the rice was not fully cooked had hard rice spots, the sweet and sour sauce did not taste good, the hot and sour soups was very thick, almost like a gravy/pot roast thickness, the sesame chicken was very dry and tough, my fried rice was very salty tasting, the egg roll was too hard to eat the shell and was overly stuffed with cabbage and very lacking on any meat. Spent $53.xx on food and a $10 tip. Overall, extremely unsatisfied and will not be back again. Edited to add: we did not even take any of our left overs (half a plate each or more) like we typically do at other...
