We ordered a double steak burger with fries, a turtle concrete, onion rings and an order of fries with cheese sauce. The “concrete” was completely melted, more the consistency of a milkshake except not as cold. The order of onion rings had only about 6 rings. They were hot and crisp, but tasted a bit freezer burned. The fries are shoestring. They were cooked acceptably well, served hot with a generous portion; however, the cheese sauce was cold and had a very processed taste. The hamburger was the best of the bunch with two thin patties, jalapeños, cheese, pickles and onions on a regular bun. Additional fixings such as lettuce and tomatoes were unavailable. The jalapeños were very small and tasteless.
It should be noted that the floor is dangerously slick. We nearly fell several times. Other customers stopped to warn us to be very careful walking on it. Part of the problem is water on the floor which was not cleaned up. A larger problem is very slick tiles and the floor cleaner they’re using which leaves a greasy-feeling layer on top.
We were attracted to this restaurant because the pictures posted online and the outside of building itself looked attractive. Once you enter, it looks 20 years out of date. I had to look closely at the tables to see that they weren’t dirty. White flecks covering them look like spilled salt and crumbs. Overall, it had a dirty appearance.
When I brought my comments to the attention of the manager, she said the slippery floor was outside of their control …though st least part of the problem could be fixed by promptly cleaning spilled water and using a non-greasy or non-waxy cleaning solution.
When I asked if their “concretes” are normally more like milkshakes, she said “it depends on the time of day.” Does this mean their refrigeration is inadequate? Not certain. She took no responsibility for the failure, did not apologize, and made no offer to compensate for or replace the “concrete.” Nor did she provide any coupons to encourage us to return, and seemed generally unconcerned about the problems.
The best thing I can say is that the food was edible. Considering the poor quality of the overall dining experience and the price (at the high end of the market, nearly $10 for a burger, fries and soft drink), It was not...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Freddy's, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The exceptional service and mouthwatering food left me thoroughly impressed, reminding me of the good old days at Steak and Shake, but with a refreshing twist and without the greasy patties!
Let's start with the service. The staff at Freddy's went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a genuine willingness to assist. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making excellent recommendations and answering all our questions. Their exceptional service truly added an extra layer of enjoyment to our visit.
Now, onto the highlight: the food. We opted for the California burgers, and I must say, they were absolutely delicious. The patties were perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful. The combination of fresh toppings, including avocado, lettuce, tomato, and a special sauce, created a harmonious blend of flavors that danced on my taste buds. The buns were soft and toasted to perfection, adding a delightful texture to every bite. It was a burger experience that exceeded my expectations.
What truly sets Freddy's apart is their dedication to quality ingredients. The absence of greasy patties is a refreshing change, as it allows the natural flavors of the meat and toppings to shine through. It's clear that Freddy's takes pride in their food, and it reflects in every bite.
In addition to the exceptional service and mouthwatering food, the ambiance at Freddy's is reminiscent of a classic diner, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The retro decor adds a touch of nostalgia, taking me back to the beloved days of Steak and Shake. It's a place where you can relax, enjoy a great meal, and create lasting memories.
In conclusion, Freddy's is a hidden gem that offers exceptional service, delicious food, and a nostalgic dining experience. The California burgers were a delightful surprise, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality. If you're craving a memorable meal without the greasy patties, Freddy's is the place to be. I highly recommend it and will undoubtedly be returning for more of their...
