The Underground Public House is a perfect dining experience. I do not say that lightly, but it is a sincerely held belief.
The food is absolutely incredible. Everything is made from high quality ingredients, with a lot sourced locally. Everything from the salad dressing to the sausages are made in house. I have never eaten anything less than amazing here.
The menu has several staples, including an amazing brunch on Sundays, but many items rotate on a seasonal basis. They always have house-made sausages and scotch eggs, but they are regularly swapped out for a different variety. Everything is priced very reasonably for the large portions. They also have seafood and dessert specials on the weekends.
The beer selection is top tier. They keep twenty craft beers on a rotating draft menu, including several local options. They always have a great selection of sours, barrel-aged, IPAs, Belgian beers, and more. They regularly update their Untappd, which is an excellent way to keep up with the menu. Wednesday is also draft night, so it's the best time to visit just for a drink. They also have a selection of cocktail specials, all of which are delicious.
I also cannot gush enough about the service. I have always been taken care of so well when I visit, whether on a date, with friends, or just sitting at the bar. All of the staff from the servers to the kitchen are friendly and kind, and I cannot praise them enough for always making me feel welcome.
All in all, I have not one complaint to offer about the Underground. I cannot recommend them enough. They take reservations, so I highly recommend making them to help avoid the wait. They tend to stay pretty busy, for...
Read moreSunday brunch, 1:15 our second time here. First time food was fantastic(supper menu), this time it was awful. We were celebrating, we new what we wanted to try so we ordered upon being seated. Waitress Josie was very friendly. It was a full house, the place is small. After about 35-40 min I asked Josie about the wait, she apologized, that they were very busy, should be about 5 min. A little bit longer and she brought our food. I ordered Banh Mi chicken sandwich w/fries and my husband ordered Biscuits n gravy w/burnt ends! The food was not good! My sandwich was cold, bread hard, hoisin sauce tasted like bbq and didn't feel it went with lemongrass chicken. I ate the chicken pieces and left the rest. When Josie asked how things were I told her only that the fries were cold & soggy, which made no sense, as long as we waited they should've been fresh, hot and delicious! She very quickly said she would bring a fresh order. I tasted my husbands b&g, biscuit was good, gravy, YUCK! I guess the burnt ends were smoked so it had a very heavy smoke taste! Now we knew what the people at the table beside us were doing when they were smelling, tasting, and turning their nose up and not eating much of their b&g plate! My husband ate it but he didn't care much for it, he's not much for wasting food. I just asked for a box and took mine home to our chickens. Josie brought the plate of fresh fries, they were perfect, except for the ketchup! They should offer aoli instead of ketchup at an upscale restaurant!! My husband helped me eat them. We got our check, thanked Josie, and said to each other we'll never be back on...
Read moreThe hostess was rude, and not very friendly. She didn't bother to tell us the QR code on the table is the menu. The wifi was not very good. I tried everything, but still my phone struggled. VERY PRICEY, but decided to try the good life for a night...it was ALL soooo gross!!! First the old fashioned drink was way too strong, you couldn't taste anything but whiskey. I then asked for a "normal beer", but the waitress said she didn't know, and couldn't get away from the beer menu. So I ordered a blueberry (thinking it was like Big Muddy's Blueberry Blonde...I couldn't be more wrong!!!), it was GROSS, so I ordered another "normal" beer, I had to point to another customer to say what is he drinking to get a somewhat normal beer. Ordered the pretzel with cheese & mustard...GROSS!!! I've had this at many places, but this time the cheese was super gross. Mustard was a bit strong for the pretzel, but could be very good on a sandwich. Next the $42 filet, with garlic mashed, again I've had this at many places all over this country & none were as GROSS as this!!! Whatever seasoning was on the steak was gross, the mashed potatoes were gross, the veggies were too gross looking to even try. The waitress was exceptionally slow for as few people that were the place. Couldn't figure out what was taking her so long. The we get the bill for $160+ for 2 people, for food we really didn't eat because it was so gross. I was soooooo disappointed 😥 There was absolutely nothing we had on our visit that was worth the price of the meal. NOT WORTH THE PRICES This place is...
