Culver Beer & Locally Toasted Delicatessen — Restaurant in Carlsbad

I know this is a brewery, but their sandwiches are AMAZING! I used to live nearby, so I brought my friends here whenever we wanted to grab a drink and easy meal. I have tried all their hot sandwiches (the smokey joe is my favorite, but really none of the hot sandwiches have let me down). Their food is great, but also their beer is amazing as well. I have tried Street Walker, Solar Rip, Tiger Ride, 7th Dimension, Pinch Hitter, and Tough Luck. I liked every single one. I usually have photos with my reviews, but I can't help eating the food and finishing my drink before I remember to take any photos!

There are several pinball machines and lot's of TV screens to watch games. I have been there during peak hours (when the padres are playing) and when it was less crowded. Either way, I could always hold conversations (some bars/breweries are too loud to talk in). The pinball machines are fun to play at too!

The employees there are always friendly and helpful. They do stop taking food orders 2 hours before closing time, but you can always call in your order ahead of time and pay when you arrive. Parking is really easy too (there are always spaces in front of the brewery or in the back).

As a customer from the beginning I can't fathom why it's taken me so long to post a review. Let's cut to the chase - Culver Beer is one of the county's top breweries and a true gem in Carlsbad / North County.

Culver has really grown since their inception. They now have a robust selection of beers and seltzers which are available in crowlers, growlers, and kegs. Having purchased (and tried to purchase) kegs from 20+ breweries around Southern California I can definitively say that Culver is the easiest to work with by far. I've had two Culver beers on tap at home for a few months now. Mike and his team make it so easy that I don't see this changing anytime soon. I really appreciate the outstanding service that I get every time I visit.

The addition of the Locally Toasted Deli has been a real game changer. The sandwiches are incredible, and there's something for everyone and the prices are more than fair. This adds to the family (and dog) friendly nature of the brewery.

For anyone into top-notch craft beer or excellent sandwiches, Culver is a must-visit...

During our visit there, I had three beers and they were all very good. Not a long tap list, but they do hit most of the bases. And I LOVE that they have a resident deli! The sandwiches are excellent and huge, easily big enough to share. Love the vintage pinball machines! Five months later... The last two times we were here, it was on a weekday and the crowd size and noise levels were fine. This time my wife and I stopped by about 5:00 on a Saturday for a sandwich and a beer. Apparently this is young family time. There were babies, toddlers, and very young kids everywhere, running around and screaming, ignoring oblivious parents. Add a herd of dogs barking and growling and dragging leashes around and it was loud bedlam. We got our beers and sandwiches, which were tasteless disappointments, and got the hell outa there as soon as we finished. I might try them again on a weekday, but never again on a Saturday. ...
