On a Roll Sandwich Shoppe — Restaurant in Carlsbad

While the saying, "A Lack of Planning on Your Part Doesn't Constitute an Emergency on Mine..." certainly rings true, it really is appreciated when someone goes above and beyond and helps you, anyway, and the ladies at On A Roll REALLY saved me today! I totally dropped the ball and forgot to order lunch for a meeting with 10 attendees. 10 minutes before the meeting started, I got a call from the host saying that lunch hadn't arrived, yet, and could I check on it... (GULP) Knowing that lots of other people in my company get lunch from them on the regular, I gave the folks at On A Roll a call to see if they could help me out in any way. I asked if they could make me a variety of 10 sandwiches ASAP and that I would be on my way soon. They told me they could be ready in 20 minutes! So, I headed over, picked out some drinks, chips, and cookies, and by the time I stood in quick-moving line and paid for my order, the lovely sandwich tray was ready to roll! The meeting had their lunch on the table by 12:20pm, and now my heart is beating at a more normal rate. :) THANK YOU to everyone at OAR that helped make our lunch meeting a success, without making me feel bad. Everyone was so kind and cheerful and willing to help. If Customer Service is as important to you as quick, delicious and affordable food, then you owe it to yourself to check out...

Nothing but good coming from On A Roll! I started working in the area about 6 months ago and this quickly became my goto lunch spot just about every day. What can I say, I love sandwiches and plenty to choose from at On A Roll. Simple deli atmosphere and I can't help but smile and laugh when talking with Lou and his amazing staff.

If you're hungry, go for the Ultimate 9", the Rueben is great (the rye bread is the bomb!), or go for something different like the High Roller. I've tried just about the entire menu and it's nice to go to a sandwich shop with their own style, not the same old same old. Some of the combinations are adventurous and absolutely worth a try so I recommend breaking out of your shell and trying something new.

My biggest note is that you always check the special board for the special of the day. Lou has some tasty specials so don't forget to check the board. Sometimes I forget and kick myself once I see what I missed.

First of all, O-M-G this place is INCREDIBLE! This is a small and clean"mom-and-pop" deli where the incredibly friendly staff greet you with a smile and make DELICIOUS flavorful food. This spot always has breakfast, lunch, and a “Special of the Day” be sure to ask – there are three options for ordering: Order online from the menu Call to place your order Order in person BUT if you are limited on time, ORDER AHEAD OF TIME!!! Everything is made fresh to order so tasteful food made with love does take time to make. If you do not see something on the menu, ask the staff and they can make it for you.

I highly recommend this spot so much that I am a frequent customer!! Prices are affordable, service is great, food...
