Dolce Aroma Italian Bakery is a charming petite bakery in the La Costa area. We bought 2 baked goodies here, & perhaps we picked the wrong ones. The Chocolate Bun we tried, was shaped like a seashell, with stripes of chocolate down the front, plus a rich decadent dab of chocolate, in the center. The consistency of the dough wasn't light & flaky, so it was a bit disappointing. The small Italian Quiche we got, was off, texture-wise, & the Pancetta inside was a bit chewy. They had several different types of Canolis inside 1 of their glass cases, which looked really tasty! Perhaps next time, we'll try one of these.
The inside of the bakery is cute, with a lengthy glass case, displaying many different Italian baked treats. They serve Lavazza Coffee, as well.
The person working behind the counter was friendly, & patient with us, as it was our first time here, & we wanted to see all their baked goods, before deciding.
You can take your Lavazza coffee & bakery item outside, & enjoy it, on their nice outdoor patio, or perhaps inside, in their small eating area, with...
Read moreMy wife and I came upon Dolce Aroma Italian bakery today. I am a cannoli officianado and I had to get one. It was excellent....as good as those we ate in Rome and Florence. The shell was fresh, delicate and crunchy. The filling was perfect...sweetened ricotta with no fillers. This is the real deal. The bakery was perfectly arranged and the pastries were presented so artfully. Don't be mistaken, this bakery is also a bistro serving menu items such as quiche, ciabatta sandwiches, foccacia and various croissants filled with sweet fillings. Oh yes, I would be remiss not to mention they serve a full array of Italian coffees, fresh juice and tea. Everything is fesh and made to order. The owners, who are brother and sister were proudly selling their menu items.
If you have a chance and you want to treat yourself, go visit them. You will be...

I had The Vesuvio in Ciabatta, and it was honestly the best sandwich I've had in a while. The ciabatta bread was the best I've ever had, the prosciutto was great, and their homemade mozzarella really shined through - you really can't match amazing homemade mozzarella. The tender sweetness just goes super well with the saltiness of the prosciutto as well as the texture of the arugula.
What I also particularly enjoyed was the homey atmosphere of this place. There's just an unmatched level of warmness and friendliness coming from this Italian family run business. Everyone was so friendly here - big smiles, friendly chats and great service. All of this made the food taste even better!
I'll definitely come by again next time I'm in the area. There's so much more I...
