disclaimer, I’m extremely harsh when reviewing fast food places because I have experience in the industry. So this has a nice setting it’s off the corner across from a starbucks. Upon arrival there appears to be lots of outdoor seating which is great if you like that kind of thing. When you enter there are two entrances, one in the back near the bathrooms and one at the front facing the the crosswalk. This makes it extremely easy to enter from different parking situations.
Now, the inside is okay. It gets dirty like any normal fast food restaurant, and you end up sitting in it, but that’s okay because you’re basically at a 1 star restaurant. The drinks and condiments are placed near a trashcan, so you’re always fighting to either throw away the trash, or refill your iced tea. Also the bathrooms are usually clean which is amazing from a fastfood restaurant. There are only two problems, first is that you have to wait for your turn if someone gets there before you. Second, the inside is so small, so sitting outside is mandatory sometimes, but I feel that was the vibe this place was going for so it doesn’t hurt the score that much.
So the food, its good. This location does well at providing fresh fries almost every time I’ve gone. They don’t drop their food on the ground and serve it to customers, unlike some habit burgers I’ve been to.... They’re nice people and they aren’t as robotic as other Habit burgers. The actually burgers are normal they are what habit burgers should taste like most of the time.

Walked in and waited for at the register for several minutes, nobody else in line, listened to workers chatting about non work stuff as I stood there waiting for minutes. Then someone finally walked over and just said "want do you want". I'm not a sensitive person so I ordered as normal but in my head I was thinking wow this Habit is kind of unprofessional. The food definitely took a little longer normal but once the food was ready we were ready to eat our burgers, the "Santa Barbra Char" I ordered was greasy and the bread was seemed soggy, we were hungry so we just started to eat regardless. I have been to several Habits and never had a burger taste like this. Then I got up to ask for a side of Ranch as I always do at every Habit we visited. The worker said no that is an "extra charge", What? I have never been charged extra for a little tiny side of ranch in all the years we ate at different Habits. The worker just shrugged his shoulders basically saying I don't care and that is your problem. The Santa Barbara char is almost a $10 burger, it is ridiculously over priced but I still order it once in while because it is usually good. Between our two food orders the total was over $26 for just two burgers and fries. I can't believe the greed involved to charge for little side condiment when their prices are already so high. Read moreA Habit Burger cashier (1502 Drawer 2, March 6, 2018, 12:53PM) at the Carlsbad La Costa location yelled at my sister and I because he was in a rush to help people behind us. My sister and I ordered separate meals, however, when she attempted to order a third meal for our friend, the cashier became frustrated and began yelling at her. He snapped and in a very harsh tone, he yelled out, "I can't add on a third meal because I already completed one order!!!!" We were shocked and felt publicly shamed, however, my sister managed to explain to him that the order would be on one ticket. The cashier responded in a rude manner and rattled off our order. When he gave us the total, I pulled out my bank card and he suddenly snatched it out of my hand, before I could hand it over to him. I asked him why he was being so aggressive and he said it's because there's a line wrapped outside the front door.
